Families in receipt of benefits could be eligible for cheaper broadband and mobile tariffs

Connecting Cambridgeshire is trying to raise awareness with families on lower incomes who could be eligible for discounted broadband and mobile phone services called social tariffs. Social tariffs are low-cost broadband and mobile phone deals offered to customers on benefits and cost between £10 and £20 a month.

Many providers offer these reduced social tariffs for both new households and existing customers claiming government benefits such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Income Support.

The Connecting Cambridgeshire website has links to useful information about how to get reduced broadband and mobile tariffs, and more information can also be found on the Ofcom website:  www.ofcom.org.uk/cheap-broadband

Please share this information with parents.

Year One consists of a pre-ITE programme with support and training to prepare interns for the Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship with QTS in Year Two.

More details, information for prospective candidates and application forms can be found here.

If you do not currently have a member of staff suitable for the programme, but your school would be interested in employing a Teacher Intern next academic year, please get in touch to express your interest as we also interview and place candidates who are not currently employed in a school.

If you have any questions about the programme, you can contact us using the details below.

The Healthy Schools Support Service needs your help in shaping health and wellbeing support for schools!

We have received the following communication from Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Local Authority Public Health:

"We are reviewing the public health support we provide to schools and education settings to help them in addressing the health and wellbeing needs of pupils through whole school approaches and initiatives.

We recognise that settings have a vital role to play in promoting pupils’ physical, emotional and mental health and wellbeing. They are able to support children, young people, their families and carers to become aware of the importance of adopting healthy behaviours and there is clear evidence that there is an association between children’s health and wellbeing and educational attainment, acknowledging that when children are healthy and happy at school, they can also achieve more.

For the last 5 years, we have commissioned the Healthy Schools Support Service to deliver this to schools across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We have developed this quick survey which will help to understand the effectiveness of current provision as well as shape future provision based on the needs of schools and settings, therefore your input would be extremely valuable to make sure that we tailor services to meet your needs.

This is your opportunity to have a say about how we best support you in managing the health and wellbeing needs of your pupils moving forward.

Thank you in advance for kindly finding the time to complete this survey which should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. You can access the survey link here: Healthy Schools Evaluation Survey."

Any questions relating to this survey can be sent to Amy Hall, Children’s Public Health Commissioning Manager at amy.hall@peterborough.gov.uk
