On World Book Night, 23rd April, we celebrate the joy that books bring us.
Do you read to relax or to stimulate your mind? To learn or to escape? Are books your windows into the world or mirrors that help you reflect on your own life and experiences?
Probably most or all of the above! Whatever books mean to you, World Book Night is the time to share your passion for reading. Gift or recommend a book to a friend or neighbour or just sit down with them for a chat about titles you have enjoyed.
Library staff are always happy to suggest great reads when you visit your library, or you can check the Staff Picks and Recommended Reading lists on our online catalogue. For less confident adult readers we have a selection of Quick Reads, the perfect length to jump-start your reading.
World Book Night is an annual campaign by The Reading Agency – tackling life’s challenges through the proven power of reading.

Wrong Place Wrong Time- Gillian McAllister
Can you stop a murder when it's already happened?
It's every parent's nightmare. Your happy, funny, innocent son commits a terrible crime: murdering a complete stranger. You don't know who. You don't know why. You only know your teenage boy is in custody and his future lost. That night you fall asleep in despair. Until you wake, and it is yesterday.
Every morning you wake up a day earlier, another day before the murder. Another chance to stop it. Somewhere in the past lie the answers, and you don't have a choice but to find them.
