Learn Together  |  Cambridgeshire County Council

Dear Reader,

As this first term draws to a close, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you and your staff for your incredible hard work this term in ensuring that the children and young people of Cambridgeshire are thriving and benefitting from the continued focus on improvement.  It has been a pleasure to meet with school leaders and take part in a variety of high-quality professional development events, briefings, and conferences.  Thank you all for the positive feedback, it is always greatly appreciated by the team.

As we take time to enjoy the festive season, we are reminded that we live through very challenging times. As we deal with a cost of living crisis and political uncertainty, it is important that we remember that communities need to support each other.  We know and have experienced the positive results when communities do work together, great things happen!  As the local authority team, we are part of your community and we are here to support you to enable you to support your staff, pupils and families through the difficult months ahead.  We are here to work in partnership with you to ensure that your pupils achieve their potential.  Together we will get through these next few months and will look back to celebrate the continued successes.

That said, your dedication and commitment requires energy.  So irrespective of whether you celebrate Christmas, please take the time to make some special memories with family and friends, rest, relax and smile lots.

We look forward to working with you all in 2023!

Consultation on School Term Time and Holiday Dates 2024 - 2025

We are consulting on school term time and holiday dates for the academic year 2024 - 2025.

Local Authorities have a duty to determine school term dates for Local Authority maintained schools.  Foundation, Voluntary Aided, Academies and Free schools are responsible for setting their own dates and so may choose to follow a pattern and/or specific dates that do not match those set by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The proposed term time dates are here: CCC and PCC Proposed Term Dates 2024-25.xlsx

Please see the link below to the consultation on the council website:

We welcome your views.

If you have any queries, on this, please contact Phil Nash (Senior Adviser for Leadership).

Proudly supporting `Safer Internet Day' on Tuesday 7 February 2023

Coordinated by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the celebration sees thousands of organisations get involved to promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

We are celebrating by putting children and young people’s voices at the heart of the day and encouraging them to shape the online safety support that they receive.

The encouragement is for parents, carers, teachers, government, policymakers, and the wider online safety industry to take time to listen to children and young people and make positive change together.

For a bespoke E-Safety session that meets your school community needs, the experienced team at The ICT Service offer guidance and awareness raising for staff, parents and carers and, supported class sessions which are age and stage appropriate. We're here to help schools meet their responsibilities as outlined by the NSPCC, to:

  • ensure the school’s online procedures keep children and young people safe, and;
  • teach children and young people about online safety, in and outside of school.

Complete our quick online form and we will contact you with more information and to arrange an E-Safety session for your school.

ARTEMIS-A: a tool for early identification of mental health difficulties in secondary schools

The University of Cambridge Child and Adolescent Resilience and Mental Health group (ChARM). At ChARM, research aims are to optimise the mental health of children and young people.

To help students check their mental health and, where appropriate, access targeted support, the team has developed a secure, free online platform called ARTEMIS-A.

ARTEMIS-A was co-developed with children and young people and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. It produces an individualised feedback report for each student. It signposts them to carefully selected external mental health resources alongside an opportunity to share their results with a named member of the school staff.

ChARM, in partnership with the University of Manchester, would love to implement and test ARTEMIS-A within Secondary Schools.

This ARTEMIS-A Information for Schools explains a little more about ARTEMIS-A, the potential benefits of participating in our research, and what it might involve.

The project are extremely appreciative of how busy this time of year is. However, if you are interested and might be available please contact;
