Dear Reader,

Advertising vacancies on the Teach in Cambs website

We would like to remind you that schools in Cambridgeshire can advertise vacancies on the Teach in Cambs website, free of charge.

This website provides a window to opportunities available in local schools, as well as information about how to train as a teacher in Cambridgeshire. All schools have been provided with a login to the Teach in Cambs website, and instructions on how to publish vacancy advertisements on the site, by the Schools Recruitment Team.

If you require a reminder of your school’s login details please email  schools.recruitment@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.

Any technical issues with the website itself or with logging in should be directed to the website hosts via techsupport@speed.agency

You can also follow Teach in Cambs on twitter @TeachinCambs and the Teach in Cambs facebook page.  We are very happy to retweet any local school vacancies.

EastNet: Schools Internet Connection - Action Required

Communications have been sent to Cambridgeshire schools about the need to act – to opt in or out of EastNet Internet Connection by 30 November 2022.  EastNet represents unbeatable value for money, providing a safe, secure and futureproof full fibre connection to the internet that meets the latest DfE technology standard for school broadband.  EastNet also enables schools to comply with the statutory safeguarding requirement for online safety as outlined in the latest Keeping children safe in education guidance.   Schools have been sent quotes for EastNet for the period 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024. EastNet was procured by Cambridgeshire County Council in full compliance with public procurement regulations for the benefit of all maintained schools and academies. This means that schools and Trusts procuring EastNet are not required to obtain 3 quotes.

For more information please email sales@eastnet.education or you can book to attend an online Q&A session below.

For Multi-Academy Trusts Wednesday 9 November 2022, 3.30 - 4.15pm

For Maintained Schools and Single Academy Trusts Thursday 10 November 2022, 3.30 - 4.15 pm.

Tax-Free Childcare helps parents to save on childcare costs

As you may have seen on The Martin Lewis Money Show Live last night, working parents of children 0-11 years are able to save money on childcare costs with Tax-Free childcare.

For every £8 parents pay into an online childcare account, the government will add an extra £2, up to £2,000 per child per year.  Parents then pay their childcare fees directly to the provider from their account. More information available online.

Are you a childcare provider? Sign up to Tax-Free Childcare (providers)

Contact Cambridgeshire’s Families Information Service if you would like more information: fis@cambridgeshire.gov.uk. Please help to share this information with parents.

SEND Ordinarily Available Provision Surveys

We have created two surveys one for schools and one for parents to gauge confidence in the SEND system around Ordinarily Available Provision. This will enable us to add to our SEND OAP Toolkit information that will help schools meet the needs of children with SEND.

We would be grateful if you would take the time to complete the survey for schools and make your colleagues aware so they could complete this too.  The schools’ survey is open to all schools and settings and can be completed by teachers, SENCOs, teaching assistants, key workers, senior leaders, and Governors.

In addition, could we ask that you add a link in your communications to parents to the parent/carer survey.

You can access QR codes for the survey on our Transformation pages on Learn Together.

An evoucher containing a booking code will be sent by text/email to families in receipt of benefit-related free school meals on 7 November. SEND Ordinarily Available Provision Toolkit - can you help?

As you may be aware, Cambridgeshire County Council are in the process of creating a resource for schools called the SEND Ordinarily Available Provision Toolkit.  This web-based resource will provide useful information on the provision, strategies and interventions that can be put in place by the majority of schools to meet the needs of children with Special Educational Needs.  This is very much a Cambridgeshire resource, coproduced with SENCos from Cambridgeshire schools for Cambridgeshire Schools.

We are also creating a new Local Offer site that will replace the current one in Summer 2023, it will be called the SEND Information Hub. It will be much more colourful, interactive and user friendly than the current Local Offer.

On both these sites, we would love to include photos of Cambridgeshire children from across our schools and settings, but we need your help.

We are looking for high quality photographs of children in your school/setting that you have parental consent to share. If you could also provide email addresses for parent/carers and staff in pictures, we would be happy to explain how the pictures will be used and confirm consent to use the photo on our website.

Please email photos and contact info to sendtransformation@cambridgeshire.gov.uk
