Learn Together  |  Cambridgeshire County Council

Dear Reader,

A message to schools from Cllr Bryony Goodliffe

The last academic year has seen a return of many of the key features of the education diary – tests, exams & sports days. It has been great to see visitors back in schools and children being able to perform to an audience again.

I’m deeply aware of the ongoing difficulties in schools and am amazed at how staff rise to the challenges – education, eating, mental wellbeing, compassion demonstrated daily. I am in awe of all that you achieve and offer our young people on a daily basis and for that I thank you all and wish you a restful summer.

Cllr Bryony Goodliffe

Healthy Schools Celebration Conference & Learning Event - We need your help!

It is with sadness and disappointment that a decision has been made to postpone the Healthy Schools Summer Conference event due to low take up by schools. The event was planned to showcase the breadth of iniatives available to schools by local organisations to support with embedding whole schools approaches to health and wellbeing, as well as celebrate the achievements of schools who have success received Healthy Schools Accredited status this academic year.

We know that our colleagues in the Education sector have once again experienced a turbulent year managing and responding to the Covid-19 pandemic and have continued to be pressured by the impact of staffing availability and fatigue. We consider this low uptake to be a reflection of the challenges, lack of capacity and exhaustion which schools are experiencing as they edge closer to the end of the academic year.

We hope to reschedule the event for the Autumn term but are seeking feedback from schools to help shape this event to maximise benefits to schools – we are kindly asking for 5 minutes of your time to complete this quick survey to aid our planning. Thank you in advance and we will share further details on the rescheduled event early in the Autumn term.
