Would you like a Mobile Library to stop in your area?
We are currently reviewing our Mobile Library stops and there is capacity for some additional stopping locations.
The mobile library service currently stops at over 350 places each month so check where your nearest stop is on https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/residents/libraries-leisure-culture/libraries/mobiles/find-a-mobile-library-stop
If you would like us to stop in your area please first check where your current Mobile Library stop is.
We are unable to stop within one mile of a current stop or 2 miles of a static library. We would need a minimum of 4 households to use the service regularly for it to be viable.
Please contact us by 22nd November on mobilelibraries@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or via Facebook and Twitter.

Arts Events for All this November!
Back for its eighth season with a burst of exciting artistic events and activities, The Library Presents has returned to Cambridgeshire communities with events in person and online. Some highlights from the programme include;
International musician Fiston Lusambo in a lively and fun online workshop for all ages where you’ll discover songs and guitar music from Democratic Republic of Congo - 3rd November 7pm. Then later in November Ling Peng runs a workshop on Chinese strings and Daphna Sadeh on Israeli and Middle Eastern melodies.
Young families will enjoy Apple n Spice, an interactive introduction to Indian storytelling, dance and shadow puppetry. This intriguing new fairy tale tells the story of two stepmothers; one from the East and one from the West, watch the plot thicken as their stories entwine on 13th and 14th November.
Families can also join a fantastically fun interactive online science and dance workshop (with BSL and Audio description) which explores Coccolithophores and how these amazing creatures can help us in the battle with climate change. It’s guaranteed to be silly, fun, educational and a great workout!
Adult audiences will be taken on a journey across the English channel in theatre performance ‘Nothing Great is Easy’ which follows the extraordinary true-life story of the first man to swim the channel. An inspiring history of athletic endeavour, and a cautionary tale of the perils of fame.
Book tickets and see more events including arts, crafts, music, comedy and circus.
We’re trying to make it easier for you to reserve and borrow our new books, so instead of giving you a PDF to open we’ve created a new area on our online catalogue. This means you can read about the new books and click to reserve all in one place.
You’ll still see the covers and be able to read about each book – you can also add your own tags and reviews to your books too. If you use screen reading software this should be far more accessible than a PDF.
Let us know what you think of the new look via Facebook and Twitter.

Top Pick:
The Other Emily by Dean Koontz
A decade ago, Emily Carlino vanished after her car broke down on a California highway. She was presumed to be one of serial killer Ronny Lee Jessup's victims whose remains were never found. Writer David Thorne still hasn't recovered from losing the love of his life, or from the guilt of not being there to save her.
Since then, he's sought closure any way he can. He even visits regularly with Jessup in prison, desperate for answers about Emily's final hours so he may finally lay her body to rest. Then David meets Maddison Sutton, beguiling, playful, and keenly aware of all David has lost. But what really takes his breath away is that everything about Maddison, down to her kisses, is just like Emily. As the fantastic becomes credible, David's obsession grows, Maddison's mysterious past deepens - and terror escalates. Is she Emily? Or an irresistible dead ringer?

Did you miss out on a service at your local war memorial last year? Will you look at it anew this year?

Winter conditions can be bad for our health, especially for older people and people with long-term conditions. Being cold increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes. It could also suppress our immune system, lung capacity and our ability to fight off infection.
The NHS webpage on how to stay well in winter provides helpful advices and suggests we look out for vulnerable neighbours and relatives. This webpage contains information in other formats, including Large Print, audio file, BSL video and Easy Read.
Support available
Winter is often an expensive time for people who struggle to heat their homes and pay their bills. Many people might also find themselves in fuel poverty for the first time but unaware of the help that is available.
If you or anyone you know is at risk of living in fuel poverty or struggling to pay for food, there are several ways in which the local Stay Well this Winter programme can help. Please find useful contact information on the website and get support needed to stay warm and well this winter.
Globally, men die on average 5 years earlier than women for reasons that are largely preventable. There are actions we can take to help ourselves and others live healthier and longer lives.
The annual Movember campaign focuses on mental health, prostate cancer and testicular cancer – conditions many men find difficult to talk about. To learn how to start a conversation to support others, and to find out where to get support, go to the Movember website.
