We have had a number of queries about when will these be available. We are aware that the forecasts are helpful for budget planning and other purposes.
Our Business Intelligence Team, which produces the forecasts, has been under considerably more pressure than usual due to Covid related requests, which have priority and this has resulted in a delay. We should be in a position to send the forecasts to you by February half-term. We apologise for this delay but unfortunately this cannot be helped due to the current circumstances.

Support
Based on the 10 Keys to Happier Living [www.actionforhappiness.org], a little and often approach to self-care and wellbeing may be more manageable, achievable and realistic for school staff. The second key is Exercising; give it a go by dedicating 2 or 3 occasions over the week when you will simply take a short walk.

Adult Mental Health First Aid Training: Book here
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, children and young people have had to adapt to learning through video and technology. The proven developmental and mental health benefits of outdoor education have therefore never been more important. Children need to experience different types of learning, and explore life skills in a way that is only possible outside of the classroom environment. Learning outside the classroom can be used to support the curriculum, and help children to become resourceful, resilient, creative, confident, team-players and problem-solvers. Experiencing the natural world and being with other children outside of the classroom is vital for every child.
Please see the training section below for details of our forthcoming outdoor learning conference.
The Opportunity Area have sponsored a one to one guidance project to encourage people into teaching. Here are some recent articles and activities they are offering in the coming months : https://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/special-features/you-interested-training-teacher-19586401 and https://www.inyourarea.co.uk/news/are-you-interested-in-training-to-be-a-teacher/
As a consequence of the first lockdown Maths Subject Leaders reported that children’s mathematical reasoning and problem solving skills declined. In response to this the Maths Team have designated 2021 the year of problem solving!
Starting on 13/1/21 we will produce 3 problem solving activities each week which can be used in school or at home. Each of the problems will be aimed at different year groups. During the year the new Year 2 Maths Challenge will be launched and the Maths Conference will have a problem solving focus. To keep up to date with announcements and the weekly problem solving activities please follow the link to our facebook page.
The Early Years and Childcare team are proud to announce the 50 Things To Do Before You’re Five app has now launched in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
The app helps practitioners, parents and carers of children aged birth - 5 years old find links to low-cost or no-cost experiences which are indoors, outdoors, seasonal, home-based or can be done when out-and-about. They are not only fun but will get children off to a flying start with learning and language development.
The FREE app can be downloaded from your usual app store by typing in '50 Things to do Before You're 5'. Once downloaded open the app and scroll to the bottom and click on 'Cambridgeshire and Peterborough', then enter your postcode. Entering your postcode will help us provide you with appropriate content and keep you informed about what's on in your local area.

Despite it being a very turbulent time, we’d like to share some good news. There has been an excellent response to this years’ CPTI recruitment round. We are already planning interviews for the end of this month for early applicants.
Interviewees are largely members of support staff from schools like yours, looking for a chance to develop themselves as teachers, with your support. It’s very heartening to see that schools are pushing forwards and seeing the long term benefits of developing their support staff.
There is still time to start your staff on this road, realise the benefits of long term staff development and get ahead of the resourcing curve! Applications are welcome until 28th February 2021. Please note candidates can be primary or secondary. They need a degree, GCSE English and Maths ( C/4 or above) plus Science GCSE for Primary.
For more information and where to apply, go to our Learn Together page.

The UK will introduce a points-based immigration system from 1 January 2021 which will change how you employ teachers who are not UK or Irish nationals. All overseas nationals arriving in the UK from 1 January 2021, including those from the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, will come under the new points-based immigration system and may need a visa to work or study. Many of these new visa routes are now open for applications. Schools may need to prepare for this change by becoming visa sponsors if they want to recruit teachers or other skilled workers who are not UK or Irish nationals.
EEA and Swiss nationals living in the UK by 31 December 2020 are eligible to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme. Those who gain settled or pre-settled status through the EU Settlement Scheme will be able to continue living, working and studying in the UK without applying through the new points-based immigration system.
You can find more information by:
Guidance for teachers qualified in the EEA and Switzerland who are applying for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) from 1 January 2021
Teachers from these countries will still be able to apply for QTS in England, but the process is changing. They will need to provide a Letter of Professional Standing from the organisation responsible for regulating teachers in their country of qualification. There is more information about this on the UK transition page.
Guidance for individuals who qualified in England and are applying for recognition in the EEA or Switzerland from 1 January 2021
Teachers with QTS, or trainees who are doing teacher training which leads to QTS, should act now to check the latest arrangements with the organisation responsible for regulating teachers in the country where they would like to teach. They can contact the single point of contact for that country or, alternatively, they can seek advice from the UK’s national information centre for professional qualifications (currently UK NARIC) to find out which regulatory or professional body they should contact.
