Over recent weeks a couple of issues have arisen with apprentice training providers contacting schools directly to enrol staff onto apprenticeship training programmes. Subsequently, this has resulted in the non-payment for training and undue pressure on school staff in managing their apprentices.
So
If you are a maintained school and thinking of hiring a new apprentice or utilising the apprenticeship levy to develop existing staff (other than Level 6 Teacher apprenticeships) then please contact Jon Hornagold - CCC Apprenticeship Advisor in the first instance. By contacting the apprenticeship advisor you will receive:
- Up to date guidance on recruitment procedures and incentive payments
- Utilisation of ‘Find an Apprenticeship’ recruitment service provided by gov.uk
- Information regarding training providers contracted by Cambridgeshire County Council
- Enrolment/application forms
- Training payment management information
- Apprentice salary information
- Guidance on managing an apprentice

Northamptonshire Police have reported a 30% rise in dog bites, tipped to be just the beginning of what is to come in 2021 across surrounding counties following the rise in lockdown puppy ownership.
Wood Green, The Animals Charity are keen to curb the trend. Their FREE ‘Woody’s Dog Safety Workshops’ can be presented live digitally onto your whiteboard and are full of fun activities, teaching children what dogs like and don’t like and times when it’s best to leave a dog alone. To book a workshop simply email community@woodgreen.org.uk
Let’s get your whole school talking about dog safety!
Cambridgeshire Music is launching it’s new project: Rhapsody in January 2021. Once known as Sing For Your School, this year’s project under it’s new name, will be asking participants to use their experiences during 2020 and their hopes for the future, as the starting point for their song writing. In addition to schemes of work and the other host of resources, we have also been developing a series of webinars and video tutorials to take everyone through the process of creating their own song. We have had many enjoyable moments with Sing For Your School and we hope it will continue with this new venture.
Please sign up to take part in the project by Wednesday 16 December.
