Dear Reader,

Support of local schools encourages trainee teachers to stay in Cambridgeshire

Last night trainee teachers flocked to our recruitment event at Cambourne Village College to get support from our local schools. Attendees benefited from advice on applying for their first post, choosing a school to work in and mock interviews with local senior leaders. Schools and Trusts in attendance commented that they were really pleased with the high numbers attracted and that there was real buzz amongst attendees.

This event is part of the Teachincambs recruitment and retention programme for Cambridgeshire schools.  It will be run again next year.  If you or your Trust would like to attend next year and get the benefit from direct contact with a large group of trainees, please get in touch at: info@teachincambs.org.uk

Special thanks go to Cambourne Village College for hosting.  I’d also like to thank Manea Primary School, Cam Academy Trust, CMAT, Anglia Learning and St Bedes for supporting the event.

The Big Read & Write 2020

big read and write

Live author events are always hugely appealing but often prohibitively expensive. The Big Read & Write (by Kite TSA, the LA, The Library Presents and Empathy Lab) is a FREE countywide author event for all of Cambridgeshire’s Year 5 children on 25/03/20, 1pm-2pm. Apply today for tickets for the live audience at Lady Mitchell Hall in Cambridge (first come first served). This interactive event will also be broadcast live via YouTube so everyone can join in. The featured author for 2020 is Sita Brahmachari who’s book, ‘Where The River Runs Gold’ will open up opportunities for children to explore the themes of Empathy and Climate Change. To  apply for live audience places, for more information on how to interactively take part and for a FREE teacher pack (including details of an exciting story writing competition) please contact Suzie Young at The Kite TSA – syoung@spinney.cambs.sch.uk.
