Council Tax Bill - How To Pay
Have you received your Council Tax Bill yet?
Broxtowe's contact centre is currently busier than normal and residents may find it harder to get through on the phone.
The following tips might help residents save some time if the phone lines are busy:
- The quickest and easiest way to pay is by direct debit
- You can download the mandate form at www.broxtowe.gov.uk/paycounciltax
- If you can’t pay by direct debit, you can pay online at broxtowe.gov.uk/estore

If you want more information on who is eligible for the £150 Council Tax and Energy Bills rebate, how you can receive it and what to do if you're not eligible, this can be found on our website. We will also be sharing more information on the rebate as time progresses.
Safety Improvements at Hickings Lane Recreation Ground, Stapleford
 Over the last 9 months Broxtowe Borough Council has been working very closely with Nottinghamshire Police to improve safety for visitors to Hickings Lane Recreation Ground in Stapleford.
Following a successful bid to the Police and Crime Commissioners (PCC) in 2021, £25,000 was allocated by the PCC to provide new surveillance cameras, additional lighting and new fencing and gates on the park.
The new surveillance cameras have been installed adjacent to the play-area and skate park and monitor these areas including the pavilion and the multi-use games area. The cameras are panoramic with 360 degree views of the area. Fitted with infra-red vision they produce very high quality images, even when it is dark.
Earth Hour 2022 - Saturday 26 March
 Every year, over 190 countries and territories come together for one hour to take a stand against climate change and raise awareness of the environmental issues affecting our planet – join us for Earth Hour 2022, taking place between 8:30pm – 9:30pm this Saturday.
Although Earth Hour first took place in 2007 as an event to encourage people to turn their home lights off for one hour in Sydney, Australia, it has since become an initiative which is observed by millions worldwide.
Here's how you can help to create a sustainable future during Earth Hour 2022:
- Attend a local Earth Hour event and connect with your community - find an event near you
- Host a candle-lit dinner with friends or family
- Take part in activities that can be done by candlelight and don't require electricity, such as playing board games or reading - always remember to never leave lit candles unattended!
COVID Updates
Walk-in Q&A Clinic in Beeston
 Do you have questions about the COVID-19 jab?
Speak to an expert who will be able to offer free support and advice on vaccines at Beeston Library on Monday 28 March from 10:00am - 4:00pm.
They will be able to help answer any questions you may have - just pop in and have a chat. You will not be offered a vaccine.
Spring booster programme opens
On 21 March, the Spring booster programme opened and jabs are now being offered to people at greatest risk of COVID-19 infection.
Those that are eligible include adults aged 75 and over, residents in care homes for older people and those aged 12 and over with a severely weakened immune system.
The NHS will contact those who are eligible to make a spring booster appointment. The public will be able to book an appointment at more than 50 sites across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire including pharmacies, Vaccination Centres and GP practices.
COVID-19 Vaccination Van in Beeston
 On Monday, 4 April, The COVID-19 Vaccination van will be at the Beeston Tram Interchange offering vaccines to anyone aged over 16.
The van will be there between 12pm-7pm and you will be able to get your first, second and booster jab on the van.
If you know someone who has been struggling to get an appointment or make it to a vaccination site, please share this information with them.
There's no need to book - just turn up.

The Great British Spring Clean 2022 starts today!
 For its seventh year running, the Great British Spring Clean will be taking place between 25 March and 10 April.
This year the name of the campaign is #BigBagChallenge and the aim is simple - pick up as much litter as you can!
Pledging to take part in the Great British Spring Clean couldn't be easier - simply pledge to pick up as much litter as you can. You can pledge as an individual, a group or a school.
If you would like to arrange a litter pick for the Great British Spring Clean, please get in touch with the details of your planned litter picking event to depot@broxtowe.gov.uk - we will then check the availability of equipment and provide a risk assessment.
Have your say on Dovecote Lane's Cycling Route - Beeston Consultation
 Nottinghamshire County Council are looking to get opinions from Beeston residents on a proposed scheme which aims to encourage cycling and walking.
Dovecote Lane is a key cycling route which links Beeston town centre to the train station, and so Nottinghamshire County Council want feedback on their plans which involve closing the street to through traffic as part of what is called an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO). This is to prioritise pedestrians and cyclists.
Having your say is simple and can be done through the NCC website - the survey closes on 13 April 2022.
Beeston Film Festival - 1-3 April
Beeston Film Festival tickets are now on sale!
Beeston Film Festival is the biggest international short film festival in the Midlands. For 8 years the festival has provided an amazing platform for the community to celebrate film and filmmakers from all over the world.
And for the first time ever the festival takes place in Beeston’s amazing new cinema, Arc Cinema Beeston! The festival will also take place online.
Holiday Activities and Food Programme this Easter
 This school spring/Easter holiday Nottinghamshire County Council is running the Holiday Activities and Food Programme for children who are in receipt of benefits-related free school meals.
There will be plenty of free activities for eligible families to enjoy over the holiday, and there will be a meal provided for each activity session!
