Meet our Broxtowe Green Rewards Winners!

gr winners

At Broxtowe we have been excited to learn about the experience of two of our Green Rewards winners and how the platform helps them to find it easy, engaging and fun to reduce their carbon footprint!

On Wednesday we were lucky enough to meet with top Green Points earner Sarah Brennan and raffle winner John Scottow along with the Mayor of Broxtowe, Councillor Richard MacRae.

Both winners were awarded a £20 voucher for their efforts to combat climate change and this can be spent at a place of their choosing – John chose Marks and Spencer and Sarah is still deciding as she is spoilt for choice!

Both Sarah and John recommend the platform as an excellent way to encourage people to live more sustainably. Sarah particularly enjoys the Green Rewards app as she finds it easy to log her activities whilst travelling between cities for work.

Councillor Richard MacRae has said “It was great to meet Sarah and John who were the recent winners of our Green Rewards programme prizes. I’d like to thank both of them for their efforts and for taking part in the programme. If we all make a few little changes to “think greener” in our daily lives it will make a huge difference in the Council’s attempt to tackling climate change across the Borough.”

Show your support for National Bystander Awareness Day (NBAD)

nbad

National Bystander Awareness Day (NBAD) is an incentive celebrated every year in March. It is a day for raising awareness of those who experience discrimination and how we can help those who are affected by this. This year it is taking place on Monday 14 March.

There are a number of things we can do as a community to challenge hate and understand what victims of discrimination are going through. These include:

  • Indirect interventions: Safe things you can do from a distance when witnessing hate - an approach to take in a public place for example
  • Direct interventions: Things you can do when you feel more confident and it’s safe to do a little extra - for example in the workplace
  • Learn: Learn more about the impact of hate crime and safe interventions.
  • Raise awareness: Talk to others about safe interventions, either online or offline
