Broxtowe Stands with Ukraine
 Broxtowe Borough Council condemns the actions of Vladimir Putin and the Russian Government in its decision to invade Ukraine.
We express our horror at the disregard for human life, national sovereignty and international rule of law.
This Council stands with the people of Ukraine and their friends and relatives living in the Borough and beyond. This is an unprovoked attack on a sovereign nation. The people that will suffer the most will be civilians on both sides.
We express our unity and support for President Zelensky, the democratically elected Government and the people of Ukraine, and call on the UK Government and its NATO allies to offer the maximum humanitarian aid, and support for the Ukrainian Government and people.
Broxtowe Borough Council are ready to step up to help refugees who have fled their homes.
COVID-19 Vaccination Van in Beeston
 The COVID-19 Vaccination Van will be at the Beeston Tram Interchange on Monday 7 March between 9:30am and 3:30pm.
Vaccinations are for those aged 18 and over and you can get your first, second and booster jab on the van.
If you know someone that has been struggling to get an appointment or make it to a vaccination site, please share this information with them.
There's no need to book, just turn up.
Opening Dates Announced for New Beeston Venues
 Two new venues are set to open in Beeston’s flagship Square development in the coming months.
Italian restaurant Ottimo is due to open in the first week of April, while The Beeston Social, a bar, kitchen and arcade run by the company behind Nottingham’s Das Kino, The Blind Rabbit and The Hockley Arts Club, looks set to be up and running by early May.
Daniel Ellis, director of Fletcher Gate Industries, says 'The Beeston Social will be a place for everyone, combining all the best elements of the company’s other venues in to one amazing space.'

Our other regular markets will also be open as normal next week, for our Beeston Market visit on Mondays and Wednesdays 8am - 3pm and our Stapleford Market every Thursday 8am-2pm.

Get Ready for Food Waste Action Week 2022
 Join us in participating in Food Waste Action Week between 7 – 14 March 2022.
Food Waste Action Week is an incentive developed by the charity WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) as part of their ‘Love Food Hate Waste’ campaign. The campaign is designed to help residents to recognise the link between food waste and carbon emissions.
At Broxtowe we will work alongside WRAP to make sure that our residents are aware of the detrimental impact that food waste has on the planet, so that together we can make the planet greener and save many species from extinction.

This year Broxtowe will be celebrating International Women’s Day alongside some excellent community groups and services, including; Broxtowe Women’s Project, Heya Nottingham, Nottingham Poetry Festival and Nottingham Justice Museum.
This year’s theme #BreakTheBias will be marked through a word walk, a creative writing workshop during the Nottingham Poetry Festival Week and more.
In line with celebrating women at all times, and the breaking of stereotypes, the events bring together the diverse community of Nottingham and allows space for women to showcase what it means for them to #BreakTheBias.

Green Rewards - Be energy efficient at home
 As part of our Green Rewards incentive, this month we are encouraging you to reduce your carbon footprint by changing or reducing habits which cause emissions - did you know that 40% of emissions in the UK come from households? That’s why this week we will advise on how to be more energy efficient in your home.
Switching off pays off!
You would have heard this hundreds of times already – but when you’re not using a device, the smartest thing to do is switch it off at the socket. Finished watching the TV season finale you were waiting for? Don’t just stand by – turn it off standby!
Consumer electronics account for 7% of energy bills, with lighting accounting for 6%. So by switching off you’re not only doing the environment a favour – but your bank will thank you too.
Wash at thirty – your clothes won’t stay dirty
According to the Energy Saving Trust, washing machines are among the appliances that consume the most energy, accounting for 16% of energy bill costs.
UK residents can save money and energy by washing at cooler temperatures – if everybody switched from 40° to 30° , it would be the same as taking 400,000 cars off the road. Set your next wash to 30° - your favourite shirt will still come out just as fresh!
