Go Green Challenge sign up now

Our Go Green Challenge aims to inspire Broxtowe residents to reduce, reuse and recycle more than you ever have before and help protect the environment for the future.

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges out there and whilst we need big commitments to make a difference, there are also lots of small things you can do at home to do your bit. With the international COP26 Climate Change Conference taking place in Glasgow from 31 October, the Green Agenda has never been in sharper focus.

And that is where our Go Green Challenge comes in. By signing up, you'll get weekly content direct to your inbox to help you reduce waste, reuse more and recycle like a pro. You'll also find that by reducing, reusing and recycling more you could see some benefits to your health and your bank balance too!

Anyone can do the challenge - whether you're doing it on your own or it's something for you to do with your children as a family, all you need is an email address to sign up with.

Thank you to everyone that attended it was great to see so many people there. There were talks, stalls, food, activities and music throughout the day allowing residents to learn more about our commitment to a greener Borough.

National Hate Crime Awareness Week

National Hate Crime Awareness Week - there is no place for hate in society

Saturday 9 October marks the start of National Hate Crime Awareness Week.

A hate incident is; ' Any incident, which may or may not constitute a criminal offence, which is perceived by the victim or any other person, as being motivated by prejudice or hate."

Our vision recognises that hate incidents and hate crimes are always serious and can sometimes be life-threatening.  They affect victims, families and the communities they live and work in. We aim to make Broxtowe a safer place to live, work and visit; and we will not tolerate hate incidents and hate crimes, and, we will work together to reduce risk and improve services to victims.

There are a number of ways that you can report a hate crime from reporting it to the police, to reporting it online.

World Mental Health Day

If we all do one thing, we can change everything

World Mental Health Day will be taking place this Sunday 10 October, with the theme of mental health in an unequal world.

Some people call mental health ‘emotional health’ or ‘well-being’ and it’s just as important as good physical health.

Mental health is everyone’s business. We all have times when we feel down or stressed or frightened. Most of the time those feelings pass. But sometimes they develop into a more serious problem and that could happen to any one of us.

Everyone is different. You may bounce back from a setback while someone else may feel weighed down by it for a long time.

Your mental health doesn’t always stay the same. It can change as circumstances change and as you move through different stages of your life.

Over the next week, we'll be sharing some suggestions on ways to help you manage your mental health across our social media channels.
