Keep getting tested twice a week

rapid testing

Don't forget all Nottinghamshire residents 18 and over are able to access free, rapid lateral flow tests (LFTs) for themselves and their families twice a week.

Residents are able to collect two boxes of seven tests per person or four boxes per family from our community testing sites:

  • Stapleford Library - Tuesdays - Saturdays
  • Newdigate Car Park, Kimberley - Tuesday & Fridays

People collecting boxes from our community sites can also have a supervised test to help ensure that tests done at home are accurate.

If testing at home, people will need to register their results online or by calling 119. They should self-isolate if positive and order a confirmatory PCR test.

Don't forget to keep checking into venues

nhs

Please keep on checking into all businesses and venues you visit as everyone should be complying with Track and Trace.

You may have noticed there are some differences in how businesses are having to collect your details:

  • Every customer or visitor aged 16 and over must check in to the venue
  • This can no longer be done as a nominated contact covering a group, every individual must do their own

Individuals can check in quickly and easily using the NHS COVID-19 app to scan in the NHS QR code poster.

If you don't have a smart phone or can't access the NHS COVID-19 app then please let the business or venue know and they will need to take your details manually.

Mental Health Awareness Week

mental health

Mental Health Awareness Week is taking place 10th - 16th May and this year's theme is nature.

Nature is all around us. Taking some time to reflect on natural surroundings using all your senses can be a real boost to your mental health. Whether you're relaxing in the garden or walking through a park, try listening out for birdsong or look for bees and butterflies.

All of these good things in nature can help you find a sense of a calm and joy.

Protecting nature and taking care of something can be a really great way to feel good. Nature is truly amazing - do what you can to look after nature - in your actions and choices.

Taking care of nature can help you feel more positive and help you feel as though you're doing your part. This can be done through joining a clean-up group, recycling or walking instead of driving.

May is National Walking Month

walking

Walking is good for our minds, our bodies and our neighbourhoods, allowing people to stay active and connected.

Within Broxtowe there are lots of short and long walks which can take you the length and breadth of the Borough. Some take you along canal paths, to locks, through woodlands and offer places for a quiet stop and nature-spotting.

Our two major trails cover approximately the whole of the Borough’s boundary, about 40 miles. The Erewash Valley Trail and the Broxtowe Country Trail allow you to see beautiful countryside, wildlife and the waterways.  Both are well signposted and have plenty of short cuts and circular routes which you can follow.
