If you can't shop online, or book a click and collect and you have to go to your local supermarket or shop, here's some of our top tips to make sure you shop safely.

  • Don't forget your face covering, unless exempt
  • Follow the signage provided
  • Don't pick up items that you are not going to buy
  • Your shopping may take a little longer but please be patient with others
  • Use hand sanitiser on your way in and out of the shop

Watch our quick video above as a helpful reminder before your next shop.

Thank you to everyone so far who have continued to pull together during the pandemic. It's been a long hard year, but please keep doing everything you can. Remember to stay at home as much as possible and stick to the rule of hands, face, space when having to leave your home. We're still all in this together.

Vaccinations Update

The COVID-19 vaccine has followed the same rigorous safety tests as over 600 clinical trials that take place every year

A vaccination programme of this size and scale will still take some time to roll out in full. Please be assured that everyone who needs the vaccine will be offered it.

The NHS will be in touch with you when it is your turn to be vaccinated. Please don’t call  before you are invited.

The most important things that you can do are:

  • Please don’t contact the NHS to seek a vaccine, they will contact you.
  • When you are contacted, please attend your booked appointments.
  • It is vital that you continue to follow all the guidance to control the virus and save lives.

Letters have been sent to the over 70 cohort and those who have been identified as clinically extremely vulnerable. People under the age of 70 who have been identified as clinically extremely vulnerable will receive a second letter with a bespoke link to book their Covid-19 vaccination. They will need to bring this second letter to their appointment as proof that they are eligible.

Concessionary Travel to Vaccination Centres Time Extension

Bus stop road signage

Concessionary travel pass holders can now use their pass before 9.30am for free travel to vaccine appointments. Just present your appointment letter with your card when boarding. We would however strongly recommend that appointments are made later to avoid busy times.

This applies to all buses and trams in Nottinghamshire, including Nottingham City, for anyone making an essential journey to get their vaccine. Please remember to wear a face covering when on public transport, unless you are exempt.

Broxtowe Borough Council is Working with the HSE to Make Sure Businesses Are COVID Secure

Hand sanitiser

The HSE and Broxtowe Borough Council are also working alongside local public health authorities to support the understanding of any patterns in confirmed coronavirus cases in the area.

During the checks, the team provide advice and guidance to manage risk and protect workers, customers and visitors but where some businesses are not managing this, immediate action will be taken. This can range from the provision of specific advice, issuing enforcement notices, stopping certain work practices until they are made safe and, where businesses fail to comply, this could lead to prosecution.

Following months of consultation with our Stapleford communities, our final proposal for £25m of Town Deal funding have been submitted to government this week.

The exciting plan addresses the most urgent needs of the town through:

  • A new cutting-edge Community Leisure Hub pavilion for fitness classes, club groups, elections and meetings.
  • A Cycle ‘Super Highway’ to vastly improve the local cycle infrastructure and encourage more people to travel in a sustainable way
  • New high street traffic calming measures to make the town centre roads safer to travel in and around by bicycle or on foot.
  • Better business opportunities through a new Enterprise Hub with flexible office space and an indoor/outdoor market space.
  • A COVID-19 Town Centre Recovery Grant Scheme to help Stapleford's high street businesses get back on track.
  • New adult learning and skills centre in a new extension to the library.

Our proposal will now be reviewed by the Ministry for Housing Communities and Local Government with approval expected by May 2021.
