Thank You Broxtowe

Act like you've got it you don't need symptoms to have coronavirus

We want to say a huge thank you to all of our residents for doing a great job at sticking to the current restrictions in National Lockdown.

We always hear stories of the rule breakers, but never the ones sticking to the rules.

You've made huge sacrifices over the last year, missing out on time with family, gone without usual birthday celebrations, had weddings cancelled and maybe even lost your job.

We know it's tough, especially being in a third lockdown which seems harder because of the dark days and bad weather, but let's keep going. Let's continue to work together to keep our loved ones and community safe, as we must help each other during these hard times.

If you must leave home, don't forget to keep your nose and mouth covered by wearing your face covering, keep washing those hands and make space for those not in your household.

Enjoy Your Local Park Safely

Hall Om Wong Play Area

We know that most of our residents are making the most of their daily exercise to get out of the house for some fresh air, or to have a break from home-schooling.

We want to ensure that all of our residents can enjoy our parks and open spaces safely, so here's some of our tips on how to stay safe and what do do if the park and play areas are looking a little busy.

  • Use the parks and play areas closest to your home
  • Stick to quieter times if possible, before 10am or after 3pm
  • Be prepared to return to the play areas later if it is busy
  • If the park looks busy could you go for an early sunrise bike ride, walk different routes near you home and create a spotting game along the way?

We know it's sometimes hard to be flexible due to weather and limited sunlight, but please remember to stay safe by remembering hands, face, space when out and about.

You can exercise in a public outdoor place:

  • By yourself
  • With the people you live with
  • With your support bubble (if you are legally permitted to form one)
  • In a childcare bubble where providing childcare
  • Or, when on your own, with 1 person from another household

£4.7m Support Grants Paid to Broxtowe Businesses this Week

£4.7million has been paid to Broxtowe businesses affected by the recent Tier 4 and National Lockdown restrictions, this week.

Broxtowe Borough Council has administered the Government’s latest business support grant scheme as quickly as possible to ensure that businesses can receive much needed funds to support them during the lockdown.

Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE, said: “Businesses have had it tough this past year and grants like this could be a lifeline for many. By giving this help to them now, we can potentially save our high streets so there continues to be life and personality in our town centres after the pandemic. When things get back to some kind of normal, these are the places we will want to go to and enjoy the company of others in shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Supporting these businesses now is critical”.

Deputy Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, Councillor Steve Carr, said: “Keeping business afloat during the pandemic is one of our most important tasks as a Council. Our team administering these grants have worked quickly to find a way to pay out these vital funds, as simply as possible, to those who are eligible. Every day of business lost is a body blow for those businesses, the people that work so hard to run them, their families and those who they employ. We have helped them quickly and efficiently during this very challenging time.”
