Stay at Home

Coronavirus is spreading fast, stay at home

Thank you to all our residents for sticking to the rules, we must all play our part to help stop the spread of coronavirus within our community.

As we head in to the second weekend of the national lockdown, it's vital that we all continue to stay at home as much as possible and only leave home for the below reasons:

  • To shop for basic necessities
  • Exercise
  • To go to work if you cannot work from home
  • To escape risk of harm

Any single unnecessary contact you have with someone is a potential link in a chain of transmission that will lead to a vulnerable person.

The vaccine programme has started to roll out, let's keep working together to keep each other safe, so we can all once again be reunited safely with our loved one.

If you need to leave home, please remember not to leave without your face covering.

Face coverings help to not just protect you, but others around you.

This week supermarkets have announced tighter enforcement on customers wearing face coverings to be able to shop, unless exempt.

Don't get caught out and help stop the spread to others.

Vaccination Letters

COVID vaccine letters

Yesterday a fifth Local Vaccination Service opened in Nottingham, making a total of eight sites now offering vaccinations in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

The NHS is vaccinating over 80s, care home residents and health care staff at the highest risk in line with JCVI guidance and are inviting people to attend these appointments by letter.

Thank you to those who have waited patiently for their letter before making an appointment, this has meant that the NHS have been able to prioritise the most vulnerable such as the very eldest and those at higher risk.

If you are over 80 and have not yet received your letter it will be arriving imminently, with all letters being received by Tuesday (January 19).

There are enough vaccines for all over 80s and they are on track to have everyone in this top priority cohort vaccinated by the end of the month. This is the biggest vaccination programme the NHS has ever undertaken.

Teams are working exceptionally hard to coordinate and administer the vaccine to those in our communities as quickly as possible.

Broxtowe residents will be able to visit one of the other Nottinghamshire and Nottingham sites when you receive your letter and book in your vaccination.

Using Our Parks Safely

Bramcote Hills Paly Area

Our open spaces play a crucial role in supporting our local community’s physical and mental health – now more so than ever. Lockdowns are without doubt stressful for everyone.

Spending time outdoors can lead to a dramatic improvement in both health and wellbeing at this time, but please remember to act responsibly when visiting our parks and using our play areas. We are strongly urging our residents to respect the sites, please follow all COVID -19 restrictions, maintain your distance and look to use the areas at times when they are likely to be less busy.

Let’s keep working together to keep Broxtowe safe for everyone.

You can exercise in a public outdoor place:

  • By yourself
  • With the people you live with
  • With your support bubble (if you are legally permitted to form one)
  • In a childcare bubble where providing childcare
  • Or, when on your own, with 1 person from another household

Domestic Abuse Codeword Scheme

Victims of domestic abuse will now be able to access much needed support from thousands of pharmacies across the UK, backed by the Government.

The Ask for ANI scheme allows those at risk or suffering from abuse to discreetly signal that they need help and to access support. By asking for ANI, a trained pharmacy worker will offer a private space where they can understand if the victim needs to speak to the police, or would like help to access support services such as national or local domestic abuse helplines.

Winter Wellness

Woman in her 70's with a newspaper

During winter, it is important to know and understand what we can all do to keep well.

Normally, many of us would take time to visit our older relatives,
friends and neighbours as winter approaches to ensure they are
safe and well.

However, under the current COVID-19 restrictions we now have to do things a little differently.

Even though we may not always be able to pop round for a cuppa at the moment, it is really important that we still check
in with vulnerable people by phone, text or online chat.

We've created a winter wellness booklet, to help keep you and your family safe this winter.
