Tier 4 Restrictions - now in place

Tier 4 email header

The Government has announced that Broxtowe Borough and the whole of Nottinghamshire has moved to Tier 4 (Stay at Home) restrictions from today, meaning you must stay home, except for specific purposes.

The Government has provided guidance on when it is reasonable to leave the place where you are living which can be found by visiting the gov.uk website.

You cannot meet other people indoors, including over the New Year period, unless you live with them, or they are part of your support bubble.

You can only meet one person from another household outdoors.

The next review date is Wednesday 13th January 2021. This means that anyone living anywhere in Nottingham or Nottinghamshire is subject to the new rules in place.

For the full list of restrictions for Tier 4 visit the gov.uk website.

See In The New Year Safely

See in the new year safely

We must stay at home this New Year’s Eve to keep our family, friends and community safe.

This means only mixing with those you live with or those in your support bubble. You should not meet anyone else indoors.

We know its a tough end to a tough year but you can still celebrate the end of 2020 and look forward to the new year ahead.

Why not order some food in and have a virtual quiz, board games, movie marathon or karaoke in your lounge? You won't miss waiting in the cold for a taxi after midnight when you're enjoying yourself all cosy at home.

Wishing all of our residents a Happy New Year!

New Year's Day Walks

snow at Attenborough church

A nice, long walk is a New Year's Day tradition for many of us and the good news is, that you can still enjoy the beautiful Broxtowe countryside and open spaces in the current restrictions.

If you are planning a walk, jog or cycle today, wrap up warm and stay safe - you can find inspiration on routes on our walking and cycling pages.

Remember:

  • You can also exercise outdoors or visit some public outdoor places, such as parks, the countryside accessible to the public, public gardens or outdoor sports facilities.
  • You can continue to do unlimited exercise alone, or in a public outdoor place with your household, support bubble, or with one other person if you maintain social distancing.
  • You should always follow the guidance on meeting others safely.

Free Bulky Waste Removal for Broxtowe Residents

Broxtowe residents can take advantage of a series of free bulky waste removal weeks this winter to help them dispose of large items like furniture and fridges.

The Council has organised three free bulky waste weeks as part of the Clean and Green campaign to help keep the area tidy and reduce cases of fly tipping in the area.

The first collection week took place in December and proved very popular. The second week will be 25th January 2021 week and the third 1st February 2021 week, with bookings being taken from Monday 4th January.

Residents living around Redwood Crescent plant trees to help nature

Work at a new £25,000 pocket park has been completed at Redwood Crescent in Beeston, in partnership with the Redwood Crescent Association.

On 20th December, 18 local residents worked together, spaced apart, to plant 40 trees in the park, to improve biodiversity and attract local wildlife.

Thanks to a successful bid for Central Government Pocket Park funding, along with a contribution from Broxtowe Borough Council and the Redwood Crescent Association, the Pocket Park was created in early 2020 on land at Redwood Crescent in Beeston. Assistance was also provided by Futures Homes who developed the adjacent garage sites into social housing.

Working in partnership, the Association and Broxtowe Borough Council created this safe open space, accessible to all residents, as sustainably as possible, which is intended to improve biodiversity.
