Tier 3 Restrictions
This week has seen Broxtowe enter Tier 3. Although there are restrictions in place, here's some of the things you can do in the current tier:
- Visit our parks and open spaces to get some fresh air and exercise
- Visit the hairdressers or barbers
- Visit a beauty salon
- Support local small retail businesses
- Meet up in a group of six and as the rule of six applies in outdoor settings such as parks and public gardens
- Take part in organised adult sport outdoors
- Go to the gym
- Visit your local library
Although we can now do a little more than when we were in lockdown, we all still need to help reduce the spread of coronavirus in our community. So please remember when out and about the below must still be followed.
Across all tiers, everyone:
-
must wear a face covering in most indoor public settings, unless they have an exemption
-
should follow the rules on meeting others safely
-
should attend school or college as normal, unless they are self-isolating. Schools, universities, colleges and early years settings remain open in all tiers
-
should walk or cycle where possible, plan ahead and avoid busy times and routes when travelling
-
must follow the gathering limits at their tier except for in specific settings and circumstances. These exemptions are detailed at the end of this guidance
Full details on what you can and cannot do under Tier 3 can be found at www.gov.uk/guidance/local-restriction-tiers-what-you-need-to-know

Guidance On Moving Home During The Coronavirus Outbreak
The Government has updated guidance for people moving house in England, whether as owner-occupiers or as private or social renters, in line with the local restriction tier system that is now in place.
Christmas Travel
The Government has now outlined measures for safe Christmas journeys between 23 and 27 December.
- Transport Secretary announces 778 of miles of roadworks cleared
- rail upgrades postponed enabling extra services with over 95% of the rail network unaffected by engineering works
- longer trains and extra services added alongside waiving of admin fees to change advance rail tickets
- passengers urged to plan carefully, book ahead and follow guidance if they decide to travel
Christmas Restrictions 23 - 27 December
Between 23rd December and 27th December, restrictions will be eased to allow up to three households to form a ‘Christmas bubble.’
- you can form an exclusive ‘Christmas bubble’ composed of people from no more than three households
- you can only be in one Christmas bubble
- you cannot change your Christmas bubble
- you can travel between tiers and UK nations for the purposes of meeting your Christmas bubble
- you can only meet your Christmas bubble in private homes or in your garden, places of worship, or public outdoor spaces
- you can continue to meet people who are not in your Christmas bubble outside your home according to the rules in the tier where you are staying
- you cannot meet someone in a private dwelling who is not part of your household or Christmas bubble
- you should travel to meet those in your Christmas bubble and return home between the 23 and 27 December.
You can spread coronavirus to others even if you and the people you meet have no symptoms. You and the other people in your Christmas bubble need to consider these risks carefully before agreeing to form a bubble.

Mythbusting
Everyone needs to get a test?
Only get a test if you have symptoms of COVID-19, have dialled 111 and have been told to get a test. You must self-isolate whilst awaiting results and continue to follow lockdown rules even if results come back negative. Even if you don’t have it, you could still catch it and/or spread it to others.
