Parks Survey and Mayor's Competition
 Our Annual Parks and Open Spaces Survey has been getting a lot of responses so far. If you want the chance to tell us what you think about the selected places, please complete the survey today: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/rateourparks2020
Your views will help us plan improvements for 2021. The survey will close on 12th September and feedback will be reviewed in the coming months.
On the theme of parks, we have also just launched our Mayor’s Parks Competition. If you know someone who is under 12 years old, loves being creative and lives in Broxtowe, ask them to send in a drawing of their favourite Broxtowe park to be in with a chance of winning a prize. Drawings posted to us can’t be returned so please only send the original if you are ok not getting it back afterwards.
The competition closes at 9am on 12th September, so there’s still time to enter. The Mayor will choose the winner and two runners up. The winner will receive a Lenovo Smart Tablet M10, kindly donated by O2, as a special prize!

COVID-19 Updates
Meeting with other households
It's important to keep following the government guidance in full to help keep Broxtowe safe.
When visiting others in the home, it's important to remember that when indoors, you can only meet up with one other household.
When visiting the pub or a restaurant it is very important to remember you should not be meeting up in more than two households.
Let's beat this together Broxtowe.
 Social distancing
If you're out and about in Broxtowe this weekend, meeting up with friends or family, remember that it's still important to to socially distance from others to protect yourself and your loved ones.
Keep your space from others and when you can't stay as far apart as you'd like, make sure you have your face covering in your bag or car to make sure you're prepared.
 Keep washing your hands
It's still vital to keep washing your hands. You should wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water to help stop the spread of coronavirus, it's one of the easiest ways to protect yourself and others.
 Arriving back from holiday?
If you've recently returned home from holiday you may unknowingly be spreading the virus to friends or family members by giving them a lift. Make sure you follow the guidance on car sharing by:
- Wearing a face covering
- Keeping car windows open
- Sticking to the same/small groups
- Wiping down surfaces

Broxtowe Honours Merchant Navy
 The Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Councillor Janet Patrick, has raised the Red Ensign outside the Council Offices to mark the Merchant Navy on 3 September.
This is the third consecutive year that the Council has supported the campaign.
“Today we all together support this campaign by Seafarers UK to remember the sacrifices, salute the courage and support the future of the often unsung personnel of our Merchant Navy, who ensure that food, fuel and clothing are carried safely in our ships. Too often they are the forgotten or seen as an invisible service. This day we all remember them by raising this Red Ensign Flag. Our act will mean so much to their families and to the retired, but most especially of those at Sea,” said Councillor Janet Patrick.

 After a summer recess our Committees are now back in full swing.
This week Housing Committee met on Wednesday 2 September and our Jobs and Economy Committee met on Thursday 3 September.

 The NHS are carrying out a national survey to get feedback on people's experience of Healthy Start.
If you are currently receiving Healthy Start Vouchers, they'd like to hear from you about your experience of the scheme. Your feedback will allow them to review and shape the future of Healthy Start.
