White ribbon campaign

The Council is a White Ribbon Accredited local authority, working to end male violence against women.

We're helping to promote the message that men must never excuse, commit or remain silent about male violence against women.

White Ribbon Day is on the 25th November, an important awareness day to help promote the end of domestic abuse. Please share the campaign on your online platform

Thank you to all our tenants and leaseholders who completed and returned their STAR (Survey of Tenants and Residents). We have seen a high return rate for STAR this year and we are really grateful to everyone who has shared their views of Housing services with us.

We are delighted to announce the winner of the Amazon Fire Tablet, picked at random from all surveys completed.

And the winner is...

Alice Farmer

a leaseholder from Chilwell.

AF and NW Winner of STAR Survey

'I'm so happy to win, I didn't realise that STAR had a prize draw. My grandchildren will be coming over to give me lessons soon, I'm looking forward to it.' Alice Farmer, STAR Winner.

Fire Safety

Fire fighters

This winter we have partnered up with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. The fire-fighters will be holding talks to scheme residents on how to stay safe this winter.

Fire-fighters joined us at our Gutersloh Court Open Day last week to provide fire safety information and conducted home checks for tenants in the scheme to provide advice and guidance on being fire safe in their properties.

Why not get that peace of mind and book your home check now. Home checks are FREE to all Broxtowe residents.

Bogus Caller

Bogus caller

We are aware of an increase in the numbers of bogus callers in the Borough trying to gain access to homes or personal information.

Remember to remain vigilant and be on your guard when anyone unexpected turns up at your door, or phones you.

You should always:

  • Check ID - all staff and contractors should show you their ID before entering your property. Genuine callers will not mind showing their ID, or waiting while you check with the organisation they say they are from.
  • Never give personal details out over the phone, no matter what organisation the caller say they are calling from. If unsure, hang up and check with the organisations.
  • Never use a number given by the caller to check their identity. Use a number from a bill or phone book and check to make sure they are not still on the phone before dialling, or use a different phone line to make the call.

More advice and information on dealing with unexpected callers is available from Nottinghamshire Police.
