Job Description: Our Family Support worker roles involves supporting the parents who reside in our Service to improve their self-esteem, confidence, skills and behaviours whilst they are undergoing their parenting assessment, therefore an essential part of the role is to ensure the baby is safeguarded at all times.
Core responsibilities/tasks: To promote the Service’s mission, objectives, vision and values, both internally and externally and comply with all policies, procedures, guidance , code of professional practice, contractual requirements and relevant legislation. Purpose of Role
To provide residential support that enables and empowers Service Users to address housing and/or personal difficulties, build their skills and confidence, and ultimately improve their ability to maintain their future accommodation. The support will not create or increase dependence. It will ‘do with’ rather than ‘do for’, so it’s likely that support will involve accompanying Service Users initially, in order to familiarise them with an activity or appointment. Key Responsibilities
- Act as a first point of contact ensuring visitors are booked in appropriately and receive a friendly and efficient service on their arrival and when exiting the establishment.
- Undertake a variety of reporting functions across the service so that interaction between the prisoners and the service is captured and reported on, helping to demonstrate performance. This includes data entry, case note completions and other performance reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Establish and sustain communication links between prisoners and their families/significant others
- Facilitate Family intervention programmes such as, Firefighter for a day, Language and Play, You and Me Club and the Children's Showcase, etc.
- Support specialised contact visits to include Family days, Social Services Contact Visits, Baby;’s First Visit, Pre-adoption Visits, Family Related Compassionate visits, ADS Visits and support Family Court sessions.
- Provide support through family court proceedings, facilitating CAFCASS meetings, attending family court, assisting in arranging legal representation/advice and access to legal aid where appropriate.
- Ensure accurate sharing of information between the secure environment, prisoners family or significant other and the community as appropriate.
- Manage child/public protection integrity for all interventions, liaising with relevant internal and external agencies e.g. prison security, Key workers, prison safeguarding lead, OMU, social services, resettlement, probation etc.
- Hold a caseload on T4; Providing 1-1 support, family support planning and attend/arrange relevant multi agency meetings.
- Assess support needs and identify goals within an individualised family support plan.
- Support the continuation of pathway through preparation/planning for exit of service i.e. discharge to community, open conditions etc.
- Responsible for booking T4 caseload family lounge visits;obtain security clearance and notify prisoners
- Record relevant data on the T4 database, CMS and other relevant systems for monthly returns (KPI’s/KPT’s)
- Communicate effectively at all times with the general public and internal departments, ensuring company policies and procedures are followed at all times.
- To work in partnership with statutory services, third sector services.
- Assist with the response to calls via the 24 hour support helpline.
- Respond to allocated referrals within a timely manner as well as making appropriate referrals to other relevant agencies or organisations.
