Hello Subscriber,
We would like to make residents aware of a fake parking notice which has been placed on vehicles in Bridgend.
Whether the fake ticket has been created to prevent motorists from using a particular parking space or used as a practical joke, it could still be classed as attempted fraud and could have very serious consequences.
Residents are advised to contact the council if they have any concerns about whether their Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) is genuine or not. Often, fake notices contain spelling mistakes and may not include information such as the specific charge for example.
If any members of the public have any similar concerns, they are asked to email fraud@bridgend.gov.uk or call 01656 643376.
Please visit our website to read more about the importance of reporting fraud.

Expressions of interest open for Bridgend Tourism Events Support Fund
Are you looking to hold an event which attracts tourists in Bridgend County Borough?
If so, you are now able to express an interest in the Bridgend Tourism Events Support Fund, which aims to boost the number of overnight visitors from outside the area.
The grant scheme is open to organisers of tourism events, who will be actively promoting Bridgend County Borough to locations across the United Kingdom, between the period of April 2024 and January 2025.
The fund will support events with the purpose of boosting the local economy by generating revenue for local businesses, creating jobs, or promoting the region as a tourism destination. The varied landscape of Bridgend County Borough has previously hosted major events such as the Elvis Festival and the prestigious Senior Open golf tournament.
Priority will be given to events which are new to Bridgend County Borough or events which can demonstrate significant potential for growth. Existing events will also be considered for support where the applicant can show how they intend to add value compared to previous years, for example by increasing capacity, adding new elements or by introducing spin off or complimentary events.
Tourism Event Organisers are asked to visit the council’s website for further information and to complete the expression of interest form.
Our tourism team are keen to hear from event organisers about their ideas. Please contact events@bridgend.gov.uk to arrange an informal chat.

School pupils take part in anti-littering workshops
Pupils at Coety and Litchard Primary schools recently took part in a series of anti-littering workshops as part of the Council’s ‘Love-It, Don’t Trash It’ campaign.
To promote the campaign, which consisted of interactive workshops delivered to pupils by ADA Recycling, and litter-picks and science-based workshops facilitated by Naturequest, pupils were asked to design a poster that encourages residents to bin their waste.
Wining pupils Tilly Williams, aged 8, from Coety Primary, and Millie Watkins, aged 11, from Litchard Primary School, will see their fantastic anti-littering designs displayed as stickers on litter bins throughout the areas.
The ‘Love It, Don’t Trash It!’ campaign has previously taken place in Maesteg, Porthcawl, Brackla, the Ogmore Valley, the Garw Valley and Pyle, Kenfig Hill and Cefn Cribbwr.
The campaign is a joint project run by Bridgend County Borough Council with funding from the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Waste Grant.

10,000 trees to be planted in the Ogmore Valley to tackle climate change and habitat loss!!
As part of our commitment to redressing climate change and habitat loss, we will be planting 10,000 trees annually at Aber Fields in the Ogmore Valley, known locally as the Planka.
The scheme, which is starting today (15 February), is a phased programme of works involving tree planting, wildflower meadow and wet land creation and the removal of non-native species.
The first phase will involve planting over 5,000 native tree species, starting within the current planting season in February 2024.
As a result of these works, the scheme will create a more ecologically diverse area, promote habitat connectivity and benefit species at the top of the Ogmore Valley.
The works are being funded through Bridgend County Borough Council and Welsh Government’s Local Places for Nature Fund.
The other phases of the scheme will scheduled in subsequent years/seasons and subject to finances.
Please visit our website to read more about nature and the environment.
