Podcasts on Holocaust Memorial Day
Friday 27 January 2023, 10am-1pm at Bracknell Library
Bracknell Library will be marking Holocaust Memorial Day by inviting you to listen to podcasts discussing experiences of genocide. Survivors of the Holocaust as well as more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur have used their voices to share their extraordinary experiences to help educate the world and ensure that future generations never have to live through the horror of genocide.
Our staff will be on hand between 10am and 1pm (last drop-in 12.15pm) to show you how to use library tablets to listen to the podcasts. Refreshments will be available and books also on display to help learn, reflect and remember.
If you are not able to visit the library, you can listen to the Learning from Genocide podcasts from home on Spotify.

Books for Holocaust Memorial Day
The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2023 is Ordinary People. Genocide is facilitated by ordinary people. Ordinary people turn a blind eye, believe propaganda, join murderous regimes. And those who are persecuted, oppressed and murdered in genocide aren’t persecuted because of crimes they’ve committed – they are persecuted simply because they are ordinary people who belong to a particular group (eg, Roma, Jewish community, Tutsi).
You can explore this theme with these stories of bravery and resistance. Reserve to collect at your local library.
