Bracknell's talented young digital artists
Our Jubilee digital art competition to create a celebratory design for bookmarks and posters is over, and Bracknell's youngsters certainly rose to the challenge. We were delighted to see entries from so many budding graphic designers, using all sorts of packages on different kinds of devices.
Prizes were kindly donated by Ryman, Daler Rowney and Waitrose.
The under 11s winner, Ellie Lonergan, impressed us with a bold, beautiful and very British design with two jolly and well-observed portraits of the Queen. Amber Moores won the over 11s category with a piece that took over 17 hours of commitment and research. She decided

against the heavy coronation crown in favour of a diamante crown of her own creation. We are sure both winning artists have a bright future in the creative arts. Their winning art can be seen on Jubilee posters in our libraries and will soon be available as celebratory bookmarks.
Second places went to arty siblings Snehal (over 11s) and Siddhanth (under 11s) Ng. You can see all the entries on display in Bracknell Library over the Jubilee period.

An afternoon of poetry, tea and cake
Bracknell Library is excited to host Jubilee Poetry Fest. Poetry-lovers can enjoy an afternoon of poetry inspired by The Queen’s seventy years on the throne, and local poets can read or perform their work.
Bracknell’s first poet laureate and library favourite, Clare Bevan, will indulge us with a poem written specially for the occasion to get us in the mood. She will then help judge.
Don’t let a lack of experience put you off. We welcome all abilities and all ages from 16 to 116! Each poem should last no more than 3 minutes and with a roomful of poetry-lovers, we can promise an encouraging and supportive crowd.
Prizes have kindly been donated by Waterstones, Waitrose and Clare Bevan.
Bracknell Library: Monday, 23 May at 2pm
Tickets: Audience £4, Poets £2
