Explore local parks and countryside
These team photos were taken at our recent task day at Caesar's Camp.
The event was organised by our rangers to remove invasive birch and pine trees from this important heathland site.
The snowy scenes helped everything to feel extra festive.
We wish all our residents a safe and happy Christmas and new year.
From everyone at the Parks and Countryside team.

The results are in for the Bracknell Forest photo competition 2022, which encouraged amateur photographers to capture images of local mood-boosting places.
The winning photographer is Ray Hewitt from Bracknell for his fantastic photo of a heron taking flight at Mill Pond. This nicely symbolises how being close to nature can help to boost residents’ moods.
The top five winning images are shown below. Further information, including a clip of all 21 finalist images, can be seen on our photo competition results page.
Congratulations to all our finalists and thank you to everyone who has taken part.
First place: Lift off at Mill Pond, by Ray Hewitt.
Second place: Bracknell town centre skyline at night, by Gareth Fish.
Joint third place: South Hill Park on a golden summer morning, by Claire Moore.
Joint third place: Misty dawn - a bird’s-eye view over Windmill Meadows, by Jon Jacobs.
Special award: Dusk at Cabbage Hill, by Ruhi Usman Shaikh.
With thanks to our photo competition sponsors:
Our Heritage Parks team is appealing for volunteers in the new year, to help them look after the lovely gardens at Lily Hill Park and South Hill Park. No experience necessary.
Please get in touch with them in the new year if you're interested, and like the idea of:
- getting involved in your local community
- spending time outdoors with like-minded people
- enjoying fresh air and exercise
- putting your gardening skills to good use
- learning new skills from our experienced team

Two new 22kW electric vehicle (EV) charge points have been provided at Lily Hill Park.
Each charge point is double-headed, with four chargers in total. The chargers have a standard Type 2 connection. Residents will need to download the Plug-N-Go app to use the facilities.
The new charge points were made possible thanks to a grant received from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).
Find out more on our website.
This is just a reminder that Lily Hill Park north car park is currently closed to cars and pedestrians.
This is while we carry out improvements to the facilities.
The car park will re-open on Saturday, 24 December.
Alternative parking is available at the Running Horse pub car park.
Apologies for any inconvenience this temporary closure causes.

This moody shot of Peacock Meadows was taken by our ranger Alex. The landscape looks grey under the early heavy morning frost.
The new skylark sculpture, to the left of the photo, is by artist Kerry Lemon. A smaller version of the sculpture named 'Melody Rocket' is located near the car park off Swift Fields.
Kerry's artwork reflects the natural character of the site, as it depicts the beautiful birds that are known to nest in the meadows.
Find out more about the new sculptures, by visiting our Public art in Jennett’s Park web page.
The Look Out Discovery Centre and Woodlarks Café will be closed between Saturday, 24 December and Monday, 26 December.
Swinley Forest remains open to the public during this time, but there will be no toilet facilities open at The Look Out.
A full list of opening and closing times for the science centre and cafe, over the festive period, can be found on The Look Out's Facebook page.
For all other Bracknell Forest Council opening times over Christmas, see our website.
If you're looking for something to do over the holidays, we recommend visiting some of the fantastic local parks and countryside.
There are plenty of great places to explore, and these provide opportunities to enjoy beautiful scenery, fresh air and exercise.
Information about 31 sites can be found on our Parks to visit web page.
