Sisterhood by V B Grey

Adult Fiction

It is 1944 in war-battered London. Freya and Shona are identical twins. Freya is a newly qualified doctor, while Shona has been recruited by the SOE. The sisters are so physically alike that they can fool people into thinking that one is the other. Shona persuades her twin to swap roles to meet her Polish lover. Forty-five years later in November 1989 Freya, now aged 69, is watching television as she witnesses the fall of the Berlin Wall. This sight stirs memories of her own and her sister's war, especially the tragedy of the Warsaw Uprising - memories that she has never shared with anyone. If they succeed in knocking down the Wall, what secrets will come tumbling through?

A thrilling historical mystery.

An entertaining short story collection.

Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr

The novel follows three storylines with the characters bound together by a single ancient text. Anna and Omeir are on opposite sides of the formidable city wall during the 1453 siege of Constantinople. In present day Idaho, Teenage idealist Seymour and gentle octogenarian Zeno face each other during an attack on a public library. Decades from now and with life on earth in peril, Konstance is on an interstellar ship bound for a distant exoplanet.

A time-spanning tale of hope and human connection.

But then a mysterious pony shows up at his door, and Silas knows what he has to do.
