Don't ignore the Workplace Pension

Opens in new window

If you employ someone – even if it’s just one person – you’ll need to offer them a Workplace Pension.

The law on workplace pensions has changed. Under the Pensions Act 2008, every employer in the UK must put certain staff into a pension scheme and contribute towards it. This is called ‘Automatic Enrolment’.

Automatic Enrolment applies to all employers who have at least one member of staff. If you employ someone directly to work for you – like a cleaner or personal care assistant for example – you are an employer and will need to ensure that any eligible employees are enrolled into a workplace pension.

To find out if Automatic Enrolment applies to you visit The Pensions Regulator’s website below.

Get Better Connected

Get Better Connected

The Government has made a commitment to provide every home and business in the UK with access to a basic broadband service through the Better Broadband Subsidy Scheme.

A subsidised broadband installation is now available if you experience poor broadband service or cannot access an affordable broadband service with a speed of at least 2 Mb per second.

You can check what broadband services are already available to you using the GoSuperfast checker and what your current broadband speed is, using the ADSL availability checker.

If, after making these checks, you believe your speed is less than 2 Mb per second and you have no other options available visit the website below and enter your postcode below to find out how to apply for help.

Taking out a broadband service under this scheme will not prevent your premises from being considered for superfast broadband in the future.

Applications to the Better Broadband Subsidy Scheme can be made until the end of 2017.
