Details of Remembrance Services in the Bradford district
Armistice Day - Saturday, 11 November (11am - 11.15am)
Remembrance Sunday - Sunday, 12 November (11am to 11.40am)
On Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday the Bradford district will pay its respects and remember all those who have lost their lives, been wounded, have suffered or are still suffering in any way, due to past and present conflicts around the world.
Due to the extensive groundworks taking place in the area around the cenotaph, the Bradford city centre services for Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday will take place in Centenary Square and City Park this year.
The major excavation works happening close to the cenotaph means there isn’t enough room for the expected 2000 people to be able to assemble and for the Service of Remembrance to be conducted in safety and with the dignity it rightly deserves.
Access to the cenotaph in Bradford city centre is not blocked or closed off and anyone who would like to pay their respects at the cenotaph or in the garden of remembrance area behind the cenotaph are welcome to do so.
The decision to relocate the service to nearby City Park this year, where there is more space, hasn’t been taken lightly and has been taken in consultation with various representatives including local armed forces groups.
There will be services held across the district on Remembrance Sunday, 12 November where wreaths will be laid by civic representatives and all are welcome to come to any of the services.

For this holiday of lights, we prepared a Rangoli workshop and a family yoga class.
Traditionally, Rangoli is an ancient Indian art form of decoration drawn on the floor. It is thought to bring good luck and prosperity and to welcome guests. Everybody is welcome to come to Cartwright Hall on 11 November from 11am to 3pm and make colourful patterns in our Rangoli workshop.
The yoga class will run in two sessions, from 12pm and 2pm. These 45-minute classes are gentle, relaxing, and family friendly. Through different yoga postures, we will resemble nature and animals, stretching our body like a cat and having some fun trying to do balancing postures.

The Analysis Of The De Brécy Tondo
Saturday, 18 November (2pm)
FREE (booking required)
Professors Hassan Ugail and Howell Edwards, University of Bradford, will speak about their work on the analysis of the de Brécy Tondo painting.
This talk compliments the current loan of the de Brécy Tondo on display in the sculpture court at Cartwright Hall. It will explain the investigative work that is being carried out at the University of Bradford into the secret life of the painting.
The two professors who have been working with this painting will describe and explain the analytical techniques they have applied to the Tondo painting. This is with the aim of having the painting formally attributed to the Renaissance master, Raphael.
