March 23rd was 12 months of COVID Lockdown
On 23 March 2020, the Government told people in England to ‘stay at home, protect our NHS and save lives.’
We had to change immediately how we live and work in so many ways, and we are still living with these changes.
During the last 12 months key workers across our district have worked tirelessly to keep us safe and to keep essential services going. And many people in our district have positively contributed in supporting our community by volunteering or simply by doing their job.
As we mark this anniversary, we want to say thank you to everyone who is a resident or worker in the Bradford District for all their efforts. We also want to say thank you to all our staff for how you have adapted and kept going during this most strange and difficult year. You can watch our thank you video here

Changes from the 29th March...
|
|
From 29th March, the Stay at Home rule will be lifted. Where possible, you should continue to work from home and minimise the number of journeys you make. Holidays abroad will not be allowed.
From this point you can gather with either 2 households or up to 6 people outdoors, and outdoor sports facilities will also reopen for use. You can watch this quick video explaining the changes here.

Meeting outdoors with up to 6 people (the Rule of 6) or as 2 households - from the 29th March
As the schools start to break up for the Easter holidays we need to ensure that we enjoy the outdoors safely.
Some parks and outdoor spaces might be busy - we must carry on with ‘Hands, Face, Space’ and comply with the COVID-Secure measures that remain in place.
Meet outdoors when you can, get tested when needed and get vaccinated when offered.
If we all continue to play our part, we will be that bit closer to a future that is more familiar.

You may be able to get a £500 self-isolation support payment
You might be able to get a payment of £500 if you’ve been told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace. If you’re the parent or guardian of a child who has been told to self-isolate you could also claim.
If you test positive for coronavirus, or have been identified by Test and Trace as a close contact of someone who has tested positive, the law says you must self-isolate.
If you’re not legally required to self-isolate, but you are the parent or guardian of a child who has been told to self-isolate, you also could be eligible for a £500 Test and Trace Support Payment.
Any application must be received within 28 days of the start of your self-isolation period. Applications for parents or guardians of children who need to self-isolate can be made from the 7th April 2021.
You may be eligible for £500 financial support if you need to self-isolate, this CABAD Self care booklet gives you lots of useful information as does the Bradford Council website.
Support in schools for pupils
Our Young COVID Ambassadors have produced a film about the support available in schools now and in the future after returning from being home schooled. It answers questions many young people have been asking and provides information on what help is there if someone needs support.
There is also a lot of information on social media for young people who may be feeling anxious – just check out #GoodDaysBadDays #KeepHope

Remember: Hands, Face, Space
It is more important than ever to remember Hands, Face, Space to keep infection levels down and our friends and family safe.
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water when leaving the house and returning and regularly throughout the day. When soap and water is not available outside of your home use hand sanitiser.
- Wear a face covering over your nose and mouth in public places and where you can’t keep 2 metres apart from others.
- Maintain 2 metres social distancing from people you do not live with.
