The Higgins Bedford will showcase the
stories of Bedford’s Windrush Generation to mark the 70th anniversary of The
Empire Windrush's arrival.
Explore their
legacy of endurance and determination through the challenges they faced and the
contributions they made to Bedford.

23rd, 24th and 26th October £2.70 or £5 (depending on the workshop)
Enjoy crafty activities this half term based on African and Caribbean
history and culture. Create spectacular Adinkra Art, Qemamu Mosaic tiles and
mixed media self-portraits.
Workshops will begin at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm. These activities are
aimed at children aged 5 to 13 and are unsuitable for children aged 3 and
under. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Booking in advance is recommended. To book,
please purchase a ticket at The Higgins Bedford reception desk. Bookings cannot
be taken over the phone or online. Unfilled places will be offered on a
first-come, first served basis on the day.

African and Caribbean Heritage Day returns to The Higgins Bedford with a variety of community stalls and the chance to hear local Windrush stories. There will be music, art, food and the opportunity to take part in activities and discussions exploring African and Caribbean history and culture.
