After 16 years of bloody war against
Rome, Hannibal Barca is on the verge of defeat. On the

reading at 11am from her psychological thriller, Stench, followed by a q & a and
book signing.
Rory Norton didn’t always make his living as a motorbike instructor and he went to great lengths to leave his past life behind, to start again. He thought he had succeeded, until the body of a missing woman is discovered under the floor of his cottage. Only then do the guilt and shame of his wife’s mysterious, untimely death and the accusations about his connection to the missing woman combine to break him. The question is not how the missing woman died but why, and who is responsible? Sometimes the truth stinks.

Ruth Hogan at Putnoe Library
Tuesday 12th June at 7pm
Richard and Judy Book Club
winner and Sunday Times best-selling author, Ruth Hogan, will be talking about her new novel, The Wisdom of Sally Red Shoes.
Masha is drowning. Once a spirited, independent
woman with a rebellious streak, her life has been forever changed by a tragic
event 12 years ago. Unable to let go of her grief, she finds
solace in the silent company of the souls of her
local Victorian cemetery and at the town's lido, where
she seeks refuge underwater - safe from the noise and the pain.
But a chance encounter with two extraordinary women - the fabulous
and wise Kitty Muriel, a convent girl-turned-magician's
wife-turned-seventy-something-roller-disco-fanatic, and the mysterious Sally Red Shoes, a
bag lady with a prodigious voice - opens up a new world of possibilities,
and the chance
to start living again. Until the fateful day when the past comes roaring
back.
Tickets are £2 each available in advance from Putnoe Library.
