Bestselling Author at Putnoe Library!

Angus Donald at Putnoe Library on Thursday 2nd November at 7pm

Angus Donald has worked as a fruit-picker in Greece, a waiter in New York and as an anthropologist studying magic and witchcraft in Indonesia. For 20 years he worked as a journalist in Hong Kong, India, Afghanistan and London, and now he is coming to Putnoe Library!

The bestselling author of the Outlaw Chronicles will be talking about his latest novel, Blood's Game, which features Colonel Thomas Blood, who is a distant relative of Angus. Copies of the book will be available to buy on the night. Find out more about Donald on his website.

Tickets are available in advance at Putnoe Library at £1 each. The event begins at 7pm and will last approximately one hour.

Librarian Theatre Presents

Alice in the Cuckoo's Nest at Bedford Central Library on Saturday 25th November at 2.30pm

Librarian Theatre’s new play, inspired by Lewis Carroll’s classic novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, is touring libraries across the UK from November and will be showing at Bedford Central Library on Saturday the 25th November. Doors will be opening at 2.15pm.

Children aged 8+ (accompanied by an adult) are very welcome; please note however that this is not a children’s show, and the production explores adult themes of mental health. The show lasts approximately one hour with no interval.

Tickets are available in advance from Bedford Central Library or from the Librarian Theatre website.

New mobile and Library Link routes

The Mobile Library service takes our fantastic libraries on the road visiting communities across the Borough, while the Library Link Service serves residents who are unable to reach their local library by making regular visits to individual housebound users, residential homes, and sheltered housing schemes.

Following a consultation earlier this year which saw over 80% of respondents agreeing with the proposals, changes have been made to both services. These changes include stops where they are most needed in the community. Residents will also benefit from new Mobile Library and Library Link vehicles, bringing an improved and more cost efficient service.

Book a 30 minute Tablet Help session at Bedford Central Library with a member of staff or IT Buddy, and you can get some guidance on how to get the best out of your tablet, as well as an introduction to the fabulous free library e-resources, including e-music and e-newspapers!

The next Tablet Help sessions will be taking place on the 13th and 27th November. These sessions are very popular so please book a place in advance at Bedford Central Library.
