Funding bid set to boost plans for levelling-up city
The city council's Cabinet has agreed to submit five bids worth £82million for funding from the second tranche of the Government's Levelling Up Fund (LUF).

The council has launched a consultation on a proposed Additional Licensing Scheme across the city, which will cover all 69 wards in Birmingham, made up of approximately 12,000 properties, that will last five years.
Birmingham, Sandwell & Westside Jazz Festival returns
The Birmingham, Sandwell & Westside Jazz Festival is returning for its 38th year, from 15-24 July. More than 100 jazz and blues performances, talks, workshops and film showings will take place throughout the region: from bars to shopping centres and parks to libraries. Birmingham Bull Ring Markets is supporting the festival with events set for 16 and 23 July.

Eid ul-Adha begins this weekend
Eid ul-Adha – the second of the two major Eid festivals celebrated by Muslim people each year – will begin on the evening of Saturday 9 July, and end on the evening of Wednesday 13 July. We wish everyone celebrating a safe and happy Eid. Eid Mubarak!
