One of the top priorities for Birmingham people is cleaner, greener streets. Residents and community groups have recently been praised by the council for their long-term dedication to keeping their neighbourhoods looking as good as possible.

COVID NEWS: Changes to self-isolation rules
The law on self-isolation changed from 16 August. Close contacts of positive COVID-19 cases no longer need to self-isolate if they are either double-jabbed or under 18. Instead you should take a free PCR test.

Statement regarding city welcoming Afghan refugees
Birmingham is a City of Sanctuary and a Mi-Friendly City. Cllr John Cotton, Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion, Community Safety and Equalities, has released a statement on Birmingham welcoming refugees from Afghanistan.
Silver Award for our commitment to armed forces community
The city has been recognised for its commitment to the armed forces community. The council has had its Silver Award revalidated by the Ministry of Defence for actively demonstrating and pledging support through its Armed Forces Covenant. The council will now strive for Gold!

Message to students on exam results
The last 18 months hasn’t been easy for students. Cllr Jayne Francis, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Culture, has congratulated those getting their GCSE, A level and other results, saying a big well done also to parents, carers, teachers and support staff.
