Clean Air


If you live in, work in, or have a general interest in Birmingham's air quality, time is running out to have a say in the city’s Clean Air Zone consultation. The proposal means that the most polluting vehicles must pay to enter the city centre. The consultation closes on 17 August.


Are you a carer or do you know someone who is? The council, the NHS, and Birmingham Children’s Trust are developing a joint vision for carers in the city and they’d like to hear your views.


Be mindful of rogue traders this summer. The Trading Standards team has some useful advice on how to avoid being scammed.


Events

Gymnastics

The prestigious Gymnastics World Cup will return to Birmingham in 2019 with the Genting Arena hosting some of the world’s greatest gymnasts on 23 March. You can start buying tickets now.


Big John’s Birmingham Mela, in Cannon Hill Park, on 12 August, celebrates the city’s South Asian community through its culture, food, arts and entertainment.


The Simmer Down Festival returns to Handsworth Park on Sunday, 12 August, celebrating the city’s unique reggae legacy.


A free family fun day to welcome Birmingham’s new Lord Mayor, Cllr Yvonne Mosquito, into office, takes place on Sunday 19 August, from 11am-4pm, in Cannon Hill Park.  


Hot on the heels of the European Championships, there’s still a chance to buy tickets to the must-see Müller Grand Prix Birmingham, at Alexander Stadium, on 18 August.


Moseley Folk Festival takes place from 31 August-2 September, with artists set to include The Levellers,  Teenage Fanclub, Nick Mulvey, and Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel.


Sutton Park has a range of activities during the summer holidays, including the open-air Sutton Park Film Festival, from 24-27 August.
