clean air day


It’s Clean Air Day on Thursday 21 June. Cllr Waseem Zaffar, the council’s Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment, has challenged himself – and all of us – to make clean air pledges and to take personal responsibility for creating a clean air city. Find out more about air pollution in Birmingham and get involved.


An Ofsted report has found Birmingham Children’s Trust ‘has made further progress in improving the quality of services for young people leaving care'. 


You’re being asked to help vulnerable city families by getting involved in the biggest single food donation. The Brum Feeds big drop off - supported by the council - is on 22 June. 


Plans are being drawn up for further safety measures to benefit cyclists and pedestrians at the junction of Pershore Road and Priory Road in Edgbaston after the council successfully bid for £1.3 million of Government funding.


The council has received a share of a £19 million funding pot to help tackle exploitation by rogue landlords, and to protect victims of modern day slavery and child sexual exploitation.


Cllr Paulette Hamilton, the council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care marks Carers Week 2018 by thanking the city’s carers for their valued contribution.

Birmingham International Dance Festival presents a vibrant programme of international dance in venues and public spaces across the city, until 24 June.


Birmingham Indian Film Festival is on from 22 June-1 July at Birmingham Cineworld, offering a cinematic treasure trove of carefully curated premieres of South Asian independent films.  


Foodies Festival, the UK’s biggest food festival, returns to Birmingham's Cannon Hill Park from 22-24 June.


‘Apprenticeships All Areas’ on 26 June is a free event for young people, schools, colleges and parents in Birmingham and Solihull.


Enjoy the Colmore Food Festival in Victoria Square on 6 and 7 July. The festival is free to attend and the prices of all dishes are capped at £4.


BE Festival, Birmingham's annual summer festival of international performing arts, returns to Birmingham Repertory Theatre from 3-7 July.


The Moseley Jazz Funk and Soul Festival is on from 6-8 July. Acts are set to include Jimmy Cliff, Candi Staton, Roy Ayers and many more.


Summer in Southside, on 14 and 15 July sees a weekend packed full of spectacular FREE outdoor performances around Birmingham Hippodrome.

Win tickets for the British Athletics Championships

Britain’s best athletes will be at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium on 30 June and 1 July for the British Athletics Championships. They’ll be battling to be crowned British Champion and competing for places on the Great Britain & Northern Ireland team for the European Championships in Berlin and the first ever Athletics World Cup in London.
