A plan setting out a 15-year strategy to deliver thousands of new homes and jobs to Birmingham has been given the go-ahead by the government. The plan can now be formally adopted and approved by Birmingham City Council.


Greater Birmingham has launched a strategy to create 250,000 private sector jobs and add £29 billion to the local economy by 2030. 


Almost half of all waste placed in the city’s household wheelie bins is food – that’s the shock finding from new research carried out by Birmingham City Council.


It’s Road Safety Week (21-27 November) and, in the run-up, pupils at Moor Green Primary Academy held speeding drivers to account at the latest Kids’ Court event. A new Road Safety Strategy for Birmingham has also been launched. The strategy focuses on safer roads, safer people and safer vehicles.

Birmingham’s Christmas Craft Market is open! Alongside goods made right here in Birmingham, you'll also find imported handicrafts from across the world. Find the Frankfurt Christmas Market close by in Victoria Square.

The Magical Lantern Festival makes its Birmingham debut at the Botanical Gardens, from 25 November-2 January 2017. This Christmas-themed event lets you explore giant lanterns and traditional Chinese culture in a festival of light and illumination.

This Christmas, The REP sets sail on a magical adventure to Treasure Island. Expect nothing short of awe-inspiring, as this children's classic is brought to life. The show promises to be packed with adventure and excitement for the whole family.
