Message from the Leader of the Council
Once again we have been asked to Stay Home, Protect the NHS and Save Lives.
Throughout this pandemic, this is advice that I have been happy to follow and urge Bassetlaw people to do the same as the pressure on our local hospitals and NHS services continues to rise.
But I also understand how frustrating the announcement from the Prime Minister will be for many people in Bassetlaw, especially business who are again being asked to shut their doors and take even more of a financial hit.
While we find ourselves in a very similar position to that of the first lockdown in March 2020, we now have to consider that an even more transmissible variant of the Covid:19 virus is threatening the health of thousands more people in our district and we must all do our bit to limit the spread and keep our friends, families and loved ones safe.
While the Bassetlaw public is doing their bit, Bassetlaw District Council will be playing its part to help people and businesses through yet another difficult period.
Just some of the ways that we will be providing support is by administering and distributing vital grants to eligible businesses. As soon as we have the guidance and funds from the Government, we will be working hard to distribute, as quickly as possible, Bassetlaw’s share of the £4.6 billion that the Chancellor has made available.
We will also be providing support to the community, in partnership with local volunteer organisations and groups, and directly helping vulnerable residents with shopping, food parcels and picking up prescriptions. Help is also available for residents who may be suffering financial hardship or issues with homelessness and housing, as well as support for those who are suffering domestic abuse.
This is in addition to the many other Council Services that we will continue to provide and deliver.
The announcement of a third national lockdown is not an easy thing to accept, especially when the roll out of both the Pfizer/BioNTech and Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccines had brought the light at the end of the tunnel a little closer.
So, for this reason I am calling on the Government to deliver on their promises, to step up their vaccination programme and provide local NHS services with greater assistance and even more vaccines so that the combined measures of lockdown and immunisation can return us to some sort of normality as quickly as possible.
For now, please follow the Government advice; stay home, protect the NHS and save lives.
Cllr Simon Greaves Leader, Bassetlaw District Council

Approximately 1 in 3 people who have coronavirus have no symptoms and could be spreading it without realising it.
Remember - ‘Hands. Face. Space.’
- Hands – wash your hands regularly and for at least 20 seconds
- Face – wear a face covering in indoor settings where social distancing may be difficult, and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet
- Space – stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place (such as wearing face coverings).

New Lockdown Grants for Businesses
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement of the latest National Lockdown measures, the Chancellor has today announced details of further grant funding that will be made available to businesses that are affected by these new restrictions.
We are currently awaiting further guidance from the Government and once this information is available, we will make this available via our website, social media and directly inform businesses through our Business Newsletter.
Once allocations of funding have been confirmed and received by Bassetlaw District Council, we will be working hard to distribute this funding to eligible businesses as quickly as possible.

COVID-19 Vaccine - Please wait to be called
The NHS vaccination programme is now underway in Bassetlaw as part of the national roll out. Please wait to be contacted and do not contact the NHS to seek a vaccine, they will contact you.
COVID-19 vaccinations have started in Bassetlaw by vaccinating those aged 80 and over, as well as care home workers and residents, identified as priority groups for the life-saving vaccine. This is in line with national guidance issued by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation’s recommendations.
In Bassetlaw, the national COVID19 vaccination roll out has seen a successful start to community COVID-19 vaccinations being delivered by the Larwood and Bawtry Primary Care Network GP-led local vaccination service, which is the first PCN in Nottinghamshire to deliver the COVID-19 vaccine in the community. Bassetlaw CCG are expecting that more local vaccination services in Bassetlaw will launch this week.
