The colours of the England flag are illuminated across the BASILDON sign to celebrate the England Football Team reaching the final of Euro 2020.

The sign will be lit red and white until at least the morning of Monday 12 July, the morning after the final against Italy at Wembley Stadium.

Homes exclusively for residents on the council’s Homeseekers’ register

Sempra Homes have just completed a building project of four new homes, which will be available exclusively for borough residents waiting on the council’s Homeseekers’ register.

The Leader of Basildon Council Councillor Andrew Baggott, alongside the Chairman of the council's Housing Committee Councillor Andrew Schrader, had a look around the development this morning in Thackeray Row, Wickford.

Sempra Homes, the council’s house building company, has completed on the two-bed houses which have parking for residents and visitors and meet national space standards.

Wickford active travel consultation closes this Sunday

Active Travel Fund

Working with Basildon Council and local community and accessibility groups, Essex County Council is consulting on plans to re-allocate road space to make more room for everybody to safely walk and cycle in Wickford.

The proposals look to encouraging walking, cycling and public transport in Wickford, while reducing and slowing cars in a residential part of the town where increasing active travel could have a significant impact.

Council freezes charges for parks, cemeteries, community centres and hall uses

Hall uses

Basildon Councillors have unanimously agreed to freeze the fees and charges for parks facilities and in cemeteries over the next year, and separately to that have agreed to freeze charges on community centres and hall uses over the next year too.

The parks fees collected include sports pitches, changing facilities, bowls, and fairs/organised events. The cemetery fees collected by the council include interment/burial fees, grave maintenance, and memorialisation fees. 

Charges associated with community centres and hall facilities include community activities, school clubs and youth groups among others.
