Basildon Community Policing Team update

police

Inspector Steve Parry of Basildon Community Policing Team has provided this update for residents:

“Across the district we are seeing the majority of people doing their bit to save lives by staying home and only going out for work, to get food and medicine, or to exercise. This week we have seen some warmer weather but the vast majority stayed at home.

“Your actions are protecting the NHS and saving lives.

“Our approach to policing the current situation is to educate and encourage people to comply with the restrictions. We have had hundreds of conversations with people and only a very small number have failed to do the right thing. In these cases, we have either issued a fine or made an arrest.

“We have been out all over the district, in parks, shops and retail outlets. As well as supporting the NHS and other key service providers.

“Your officers are protecting the district, keeping people safe, and catching criminals.

“You will have noticed we are still visible in the community; protecting vulnerable people, supporting victims, and targeting those intent on causing harm.”

The team is hosting regular Facebook Live Question and Answer sessions, at different times of the day to give you an opportunity to feedback how you feel about policing in your area. If you are a Facebook user, searching for ‘Essex Police- Basildon’, not only can you take part in the regular Q&As but you get to see what your local team is up to.
