In addition to local operations, Waco Fire personnel are actively assisting with statewide flood response efforts in Kerrville and surrounding areas.
On July 4, an engine crew led by Lt. Neil Cummings and Engineer Travis Brown deployed through the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) to provide emergency 911 support and conduct search and rescue missions along the Guadalupe River.
Battalion Chief Shon Cavett is also serving in Kerrville as a Situation Unit Leader, coordinating over 1,600 personnel and more than 560 pieces of equipment through the state’s Incident Management Team.
Meanwhile, Lt. Devon McPherson is deployed with Texas Task Force 1, contributing to ongoing search, rescue, and recovery operations across the flood-impacted region.
We are proud of our fire personnel for their leadership, professionalism, and service during this ongoing disaster response. More than 2,000 local, state, and federal personnel are involved in the ongoing search and recovery efforts, strengthened by more than 12,000 volunteers.
Our thoughts are with the Kerrville community as they continue to recover from this devastating flood event.
Cybercriminals are getting smarter—and sneakier. They’re now using AI and deepfake tech to impersonate people, spoof videos, and launch scams that look and sound real.

This honor recognizes young professionals making a significant impact in their field and community, and we’re proud of Susie’s outstanding leadership and service.
Employees from our Watershed Division joined local water leaders at the Voter School, where they shared with about 50 people how our water comes from the City of Waco and McLennan County.
Mark Keeley, Stormwater Compliance Manager, led the discussion, and Jason Holder, Superintendent of Infrastructure Services, was in the spotlight discussing how our water is pretreated and treated in the City of Waco.
Waco PD was the host agency for the Texas Association of Law Enforcement Polygraph Investigators (TALEPI) annual conference.
During the conference, Detective Joshua Fischer received the President’s Award for his outstanding work in the criminal polygraphy field.
