What’s New in Performance Reporting

A–F Accountability

Campuses will not be newly identified for federal school improvement this year; however, campuses that were identified for comprehensive support and improvement (CSI) in 2018 or 2019 based solely on a four-year graduation rate less than 67 percent are eligible to exit comprehensive status if either their four-year graduation rate or six-year graduation rates meet the exit criteria. To exit, the graduation rate must meet or exceed 67 percent for two years.

Note that only the four-year federal graduation rate was used for CSI identification in 2018 and 2019. As defined in the January 2020 Amendment to the ESSA State Plan, the agency will use the six-year federal graduation rate to identify campuses for CSI moving forward.

Approved users may view graduation rate data and student listings on the Research & Analysis tab in the TEAL Accountability application.

Local Accountability System

The Local Accountability Guide and Frequently Asked Questions provide information about plan requirements and example components. Both documents can be found on the local accountability webpage.

Districts wishing to learn more about the local accountability system and how to develop a district local accountability plan can participate in a 45-minute overview webinar with time for Q & A.

Registration links are available for upcoming webinar dates in August. The timeline for districts wishing to develop a local accountability plan is posted on our webpage and the Notice of Interest form will be available in September.

Assessment Scoring and Reporting

Log In, Learn More District Resources

In May, TEA created the Log In, Learn More District Toolkit. The toolkit includes materials on how families can access and use STAAR results to help their students recover any lost ground in learning. This week, TEA added additional resources to help districts engage families with their child’s STAAR results as they begin to think about the new school year.

Univision Log In, Learn More Video (Spanish): This new video, developed specifically for Spanish speaking parents, is currently airing on Univision. It explains why STAAR results are important and how parents can access their child’s results. It be used as a social media asset or posted on websites.

Log In, Learn More Web Banners (English and Spanish): Includes three fully accessible website banners encouraging parents to log in to view their child’s STAAR results.

We encourage districts to download and utilize these resources.

Assessment Management System Timelines

As mentioned in previous communications, the deadline to submit correction requests, including changes to student identification information, Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) ID, and County-District-Campus codes, score code and language changes, rescores, resolutions, and any scoring investigations for STAAR to the ETS Support Center was July 31, 2021. Requests outside of the correction window will not be processed. Only updates to student information, which will be processed by Cambium (CAI), can be done up to one year after an administration.

As a part of the contract transition, ETS will be providing all necessary State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®), STAAR Alternate 2, Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS), and TELPAS Alternate score data to CAI. Any districts that would like to retain copies of their individual district results for STAAR should download those results from Reports > Results in the Assessment Management System prior to August 31, 2021. Please note, CAI cannot generate updated STAAR Report Cards.

For questions or help with accessing and interpreting STAAR results, districts and parents can email assessment.reporting@tea.texas.gov or call (512) 463-9704.

Did You Know?

As required by Senate Bill 1365 (87th Texas Legislature), academic accountability ratings for 2022 will be limited to A, B, C, and Not Rated. In 2022, districts and campuses will not receive D or F ratings. Additionally, this bill requires that beginning with 2022, campuses that earn an overall Unacceptable rating be identified on the 2023–24 Public Education Grant (PEG) List. As F ratings will not be assigned in 2022, any campus that earns an overall scaled score less than 60 will be identified for the 2023–24 PEG List.
