Competitive Grant Opportunity Published on the TEA Grant Opportunities Page

TEA is announcing the availability of grant funds for the 2019-2021 School Action Fund - Implementation Grant. Request for Application (RFA) #701-19-106 is authorized by P.L. 107-110, Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended by No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, Section 1003(g). The RFA is available on the TEA Grant Opportunities Page.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are local educational agencies (LEAs) with schools designated by TEA as 2018-2019 Comprehensive Schools. LEAs currently receiving a Texas Title I Priority School (TTIPS) Cycle 4 or 5 grant, a School Redesign grant, or a School Transformation Fund grant for an eligible campus may not apply for or receive an award from this grant program.

Grant Period

July 1, 2019, to July 31, 2021.

Funding

It is anticipated that approximately 18 grants will be awarded. The maximum award amounts will be between $500,000 and $2 million depending on which of the four school action models the applicant selects.

Description

The purpose of this grant is to increase the number of students in great schools by providing customized implementation support to LEAs committed to bold action to transform low-performing schools and create better options for students. Applicants can choose to implement one of the following four school action models: create a new school; replicate a successful school; restart a struggling school; or reassign students from a struggling school. The grant includes support for LEAs to design schools, program models with greater autonomy and accountability, and matched technical assistance support from the TEA.

Application Deadline

Applications must be received by the Texas Education Agency by 5:00 p.m. (Central Time), May 2, 2019, to be considered for funding.
