TEA
is announcing the availability of grant funds for the 2018–2019 Texas 21st
Century Community Learning Centers, Cycle 10, Year 1 grant program. Request for
Application (RFA) #701-18-111 is authorized by Public Law 114-95, Elementary
and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended by Every Student Succeeds Act,
Title IV, Part B (20 U.S.C. 7171-7176). The RFA is available on the TEA Grant

Eligibility
Local educational agencies
(LEAs), including independent school districts (ISDs) and open-enrollment
charter schools; regional education service centers (ESCs); community-based
organizations (CBOs); Indian tribe or tribal organization; other public or
private entities; a consortium of two or more eligible organizations.
Grant Period
- August
1, 2018, through July 31, 2019.
- This
grant is expected to have up to 2 years of continuation funding subject to
future appropriations by the U.S. Congress.
Funding
- A
total of approximately $45,000,000 is available for this grant program.
- It
is anticipated that approximately 30 grants will be awarded
- Grant
awards are expected to range from $50,000 to $1,500,000.
Description
The 21st CCLC program
supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic
enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly
students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps
students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such
as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities
that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and
other educational services to the families of participating children. A
community learning center must assist students to meet the challenging state
academic standards by providing students with academic enrichment activities
and a broad array of other activities programs and activities during non-school
hours or periods when school is not in session (such as before and after school
or during summer recess). Such centers also must offer families of students
served by such center opportunities for active and meaningful engagement in their
children’s education, including opportunities for literacy and related
educational development.
Application Deadline
Applications must be
received by the Texas Education Agency by 5:00 p.m. (Central Time), May 1, 2018,
to be considered for funding.
