Description

The 21st CCLC program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children. A community learning center must assist students to meet the challenging state academic standards by providing students with academic enrichment activities and a broad array of other activities programs and activities during non-school hours or periods when school is not in session (such as before and after school or during summer recess). Such centers also must offer families of students served by such center opportunities for active and meaningful engagement in their children’s education, including opportunities for literacy and related educational development.

Application Deadline

Applications must be received by the Texas Education Agency by 5:00 p.m. (Central Time), May 1, 2018, to be considered for funding.
