WHAT:

METRO is hosting a dedication ceremony to honor the community heroes featured in  design elements of the Northline Transit Center/HCC Rail Station. The event takes place Saturday, September 20 at 9:30 a.m. at the Northline Transit Center on Fulton near Crosstimbers. The commemoration is a result of METRO's partnership with the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and Houston Community College Northline Campus (HCC Northline).

The METRO Northline Transit Center/HCC Station design honors heroes chosen by the community. The honorees are respected for their contributions to the culture of Houston and Texas. The portraits featured on the station windscreen panels transform this light-rail station into a showcase with art that reflects the proud history of Houston’s northside and its many residents.

WHO:

Event speakers include METRO Chairman Gilbert Garcia, LULAC immediate past V.P. for the Southwest Sylvia Gonzales and area elected officials.  Local school students will perform before and after the ceremony.
