The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) is the region’s largest public transit provider, offering safe, reliable and affordable transportation services about 370,000 times per day. Besides operating more than 1,200 buses, METRO is currently expanding its 13-mile Red Line with two new lines under construction. Weekend METRORail Service Change

METRORail's Red Line will close partially over the weekend. No METRORail service will be available between the Downtown Transit Center and the Northline Transit Center. The closure begins at 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 6 and normal service resumes at 4:30 a.m., Monday, June 9.

METRO will operate "700 Rail Shuttle" buses every 10 minutes during regular rail service hours.  Customers should expect longer travel times during this service interruption. Please click here for a map with shuttle bus locations.

In the event work cannot be completed by 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 8th, the bus bridge could be extended through Monday, June 9th.

A reminder to those who plan to travel to Galveston over the weekend - the I-45 South HOV lane is open to vehicles with two ore more passengers. For details click here .
