METRO will host the first of 16 public meetings on the agency's draft five-year transit plan Wednesday, May 28 at the Magnolia Multi-Service Center (7037 Capitol St.) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The sessions will be "open house" in format and give a brief overview of the System Reimagining project and the major changes proposed under the plan.  Several stations will be set up for visitors to learn and discuss aspects of the redesigned system, and to share their comments.  Click here for the schedule.

METRO will also take the message of transit reimagining to several of its transit centers. Staff will be on hand for a two-hour window in the morning and afternoon to reach METRO riders and encourage their participation. To view transit center locations, click on the blue pins on the map here.

The redesign of METRO's local bus system has been underway for more than a year. The plan aims to connect more people to more places with more frequent service seven days a week. For an overview of the proposed plan, click here.

The public's feedback is an important step in the process as the draft plan is refined before it goes to the METRO board for its review and approval. Following board approval, the new bus plan is slated to be implemented in the summer of 2015.

For those unable to stop by the public meetings, comments can be also made on the website or via email at reimagining@ridemetro.org.
