NEW ALTERNATE ROUTE FOR U.S. 290 HOV/HOT TRAFFIC DURING OUTBOUND TRAVEL

METRO is recommending an alternate route for HOV/HOT lane travelers on U.S. 290 to help ease congestion around the Northwest Transit Center.

The alternate route is intended for HOV/HOT lane users during the outbound/PM operating hours only.

Carpoolers and HOT users can take the alternate route to avoid going through the Northwest Transit Center to access the HOV/HOT new ramp:

  • From I-10 westbound, exit Washington Avenue and turn right
  • From Washington Ave., take Old Katy Road on the left
  • Continue straight past I-610 West Loop and turn right into the new HOV/HOT ramp
290 alternate route

The HOV/HOT detour was put in place April 28 due to TxDOT’s U.S. 290 expansion project which prompted the closure of the elevated HOV/HOT lane east of Dacoma to the Northwest Transit Center.
