The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) is the region’s largest public transit provider, offering safe, reliable and affordable transportation services about 370,000 times per day. METRO BUS DETOURS DUE TO PRESIDENTIAL VISIT

Several METRO bus routes - primarily Park & Ride -  face detours Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning due to downtown street closures prompted by a visit from President Barack Obama.

Smith Street at Clay and the I-45 exit access to Jefferson Street will be closed from 12 noon Wednesday, April 9 through 12 noon Thursday, April 10. Portions of Pease and Brazos will also be closed.

The following bus routes will be impacted by the Smith Street closure:
53, 81, 82, 88, 163, 214, 216, 217, 219, 221, 222, 228, 229, 261, 262, 265, 269, 274, 

The following bus routes will be impacted by the Jefferson Street closure:
202, 204, 209, 212, 255, 256, 257, 259

METRO will have staff on hand during the afternoon rush hour to help assist customers.
